Please stop being so damned frugal when you rent cars. Yes I make commission, but c'mon.
I could offer a $5 upgrade to a Chrysler 300 for a Canookie and they'll be all like "Oh! Eh? SOOREE! Eh? I only want to pay $100 DOOLEERS for my car, eh? Not $105, eh? I'll just stick with my CLOOWN car, eh? Eh. EH?"

I'm not sure what to make of this thread! On one hand sales people who work on commission produce a conflict of interest! On the other hand I have heard that foreign travelers in America are bad tippers!

Is it REALLY a FIVE dollar upgrade!? Or is that an exaggeration to get us on your side

It is an exaggeration, but I do get 3 day reservations at $11/day for Economy cars, which is a Suzuki Forenza and I will offer up a Dodge Charger or a Mid Size SUV for only $5 more a day, which is only $15, making a total of $48 and I get 'no's.

It's based on what's called an SPQ system, or a yield.

The 50% is that percentage of a 'pot' I make on all contracts. The pot is made by, I think, 25% of all insurances, 25% of upgrades, 5% of the pre-purchase fuel, 5% of additional driver costs, and 1% of underage, and any other "fees."
