red dead redemption will probably be fun but first of all im not into the wild west at all, 2nd its not coming out for PC meaning i can't get it for free. so i dont personally care about it.

It looks like it will have a lot more to do and a lot more freedom than GTA IV. If you have complaints with that, and have some delusions that you would be playing Alan Wake or Dead Rising longer than you would be playing this game then I don't even know what to tell you.

gta iv multiplayer was bullshit, this games is probably bullshit too, although its single player is probably great. it doesnt matter how long i play games, i get them all for free. except for awesome multiplayer games like tf2 and l4d which i can play endlessly because they actually have great multiplayer.

ill be surprised when a rockstar game has great multiplayer that rivals actual multiplayer-based games. im down for fucking around with silly multiplayer, but not paying $50 just to be able to play it.

thats the main problem. as a pc gamer, i cant change my mindset from "would i pay $50 in order to enable multiplayer". i can't say that i would for another rockstar game.

EDIT - GTA IV in general was bullshit. If San Andreas would have had real multiplayer though that would have been awesome. Even if it didn't have any modes.

ive bought lots of steam games that i thought were worth the price. i dont buy shit, happily, when it clearly isnt worth the price. $50 is a steep price which i think plenty of games clearly aren't worth. i even buy single-player focused games if they are worth the money.

$50 = basically no single-player only game is worth it, because single player games end within under 15 hours almost always.

however, for example, team fortress 2 / left 4 dead 2 = obviously worth $50 as i get 100+ hours out of them.

no, because as i said, i probably beat it within under 15 hours and stopped playing it. if i am still playing it longer than that, i would probably buy it when it is on sale later, as ive done with a few games on steam (braid / gta iv / bioshock / beyond good and evil / a few others) but unless it gets a great sale, i dont think any single player game is worth it. if i couldnt get it for a cheap price, i would happily not play it.

multiplayer is where its at - if a game doesnt have the best multiplayer around, i would happily not pay for it and never play it if pc didnt exist

the gaming industry produces inferior product and charges more than the market will bear and piracy is the result. i buy games on steam when they're cheap and i also buy from wii marketplace and i also support independent developers like jason rohrer and tarn adams, but you're damn right i don't support the gaming industry, i hate the fucking gaming industry. i'm glad chris lohr pirates their 50$ crapfest lowest-common-denominator games, they don't deserve my money

Yeah, I don't understand the hate of linear games. In fact I almost prefer it. Uncharted 2 was a great game from what I played, as was Gears of War and those actually progressed. It felt like you were moving ahead. The setting never outlived the needs of the character, whereas in a game like Gun as soon as you beat it there really wasn't anything compelling you to go anywhere.
