I don't know if it's a camera trick.

My physics teacher did the first one (frozen water) in class.

The camera definitely increases the drama since it's recording rate reduces the "motion flicker" that the human eye would normally see, just like with guitar strings or static on a TV.

I meant kinda like when a car is moving forward at a certain speed but the rims appear to be going backward because of fps on the camera.

I dunno, higher frequency? It was also a controlled drip (think chem set).

It was in high school. And as I said it wasn't as good as in the video, it was much more of an "illusion."

The tire effect can also be seen with the naked eye (tire spinning backwards after a certain speed).
