http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_F..._Aaron_Seltzer check out those RT approval ratings

Critic Josh Levin of Slate commented that "Friedberg and Seltzer.. are not filmmakers. They are evildoers, charlatans, symbols of Western civilization's decline..."[28] Josh Rosenblatt of the Austin Chronicle said that "Writer/directors Friedberg and Seltzer are a scourge. They’re a plague on our cinematic landscape, a national shame, a danger to our culture, a typhoon-sized natural disaster disguised as a filmmaking team, a Hollywood monster wreaking havoc on the minds of America’s youth and setting civilization back thousands of years."

haha I hated Spy Hard so much, not surprised at all to learn that its creators went on to such great filmmaking heights

What is so insane is just, at least with every movie after Scary Movie, they aren't even doing parodies. They aren't making jokes. They just reference other movies.

I know I've made fun of this trailer so many times... but this endlessly amazes me. It just stands as an example for me to watch to show myself that I really should never bother to analyze how people like things that I think are stupid, because this is completely beyond analyzing. This is just trash. Yet it made millions.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tihG_2BSUqg

-"I am Iron Man", he gets squished by a cow
-Hannah Montana tells people to buy her CDs
-Hulk's pants fall down
-"What is this enchanting place?", she gets hit by a car
-A guy tries to fly but he hits a street light
-An unborn baby kicks a lady in the face, then puts his foot in her mouth

And all of these bits were good enough to make it to the TRAILER. This has major film companies backing it with millions of dollars. I have watched this more than any other movie trailer, because I just can never believe it.

true story, I think this was the first movie I ever downloaded with mIRC, and the version I got I thought was hilarious, so I bought it.

Then I watched it and it wasn't the same movie!

And I don't mean that I had matured in some way and it wasn't funny to me anymore, it literally wasn't the same movie.

I have no idea why, but I'm incredibly interested in that world. More please.

I thought Scary Movie - the original - was a solid stoner-comedy. It was dumb, absolutely, but I laughed often and loud. It was about as "low brow" as I thought cinema really could go, though. Oh how I was wrong.

Lohr: you fucking nailed it. Scary Movie 2, 3, 4 and 5, Date Movie, Disaster Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, that fucking Dancing one, etc., are literally the worst movies I've ever seen.
They're not funny, or ironic, or dumb, or crude, or rude, or even relevant. They have no redeeming qualities of any kind. They reference other films in the least interesting ways possible, and think they've made a joke - which truly scares me.

The fact that these movies made a profit stands as evidence that we have reached the end times and the Four Horsemen are decending. Prepare theyselves.

It's for class so there's not much to it

Where you start the level. Links back to the 'hub' level which connects to the other students' levels. The idea was that you teleport in from this grassy hilly world so where you enter my level should match it. Head through that tunnel and it takes you to the shot above.

Gravy Lake.

I don't know what I'm doing with this yet. Might be a platform adventure if I can work out the physics.

I've also modeled a bridge made out of bacon (though it's not textured yet) and I might just use that. Dunno.

e: that untextured yellow-ish blob in the back is a placeholder for where there will eventually be a monster spawner. Monster spawners will be uh... meat grinder-hot water heater tank lookin' things with a big tube on the front that barfs out raw chickens. Chickens spit flaming meatballs at you.

Whatever.

Sausage Trees.

The walls look like crap and that's a limitation of Unity's terrain editor, I believe. I've upscaled the texture I use 4x and it still look basically the same if not worse, so down the line I'll have to export the terrain map from unity and plug the fucker into maya and manually texture the walls. Ugh.

e: also here's how big the level is

not very.

I'm meeting with my TA tomorrow to see how much I need to scale it up/down and over the weekend I should be finishing up the basic level layout
