youtube updated so when you change the quality, it doesn't have to re-load the section of the video you were on. so much better, now the "automatically change to HD when going fullscreen" is a legitimate option to check

So if it had loaded half of the video and I went to fullscreen, the half that was already loaded would stay there? Would it still be in 360p or what?

not really sure, kinda hard to test since the gapless quality switching doesn't work 100% of the time yet

all i know is that you don't have to wait for it for like 5 seconds after switching quality now. you choose "HD", it keeps playing in low quality until it has enough buffered, then goes HD

edit: actually it seems to work like... 20% of the time or less on my connection, haha. but its cool when it works

At the ending of the movie, Teddy explains that they had gotten the real John G, but Leonard couldn't feel that was enough, he kept feeling it was unfinished. To me, it almost sounded mutually beneficial (in a sick way). Teddy gets to "use" him by having Leonard solve his problems, while Leonard gets to keep solving things, which he would have created for himself anyway.

Besides, Teddy tells him this! He gives him a picture from when the actual John G case was solved and explains that it is all over. Leonard could have taken that and tattooed the fact that it was over, and all of the manipulation would have ended there. But Leonard burns the photo and purposely turns himself toward killing Teddy in the future. The one thing that keeps him wanting to kill is that his wife's case is unfinished, but when he is given the facts, he purposely destroys them.

I don't get how you think Teddy's murder was justified, when he had just come clean about everything. The entire movie is based around Leonard leading himself to kill someone he was annoyed with, that he didn't even know much of anything about when he decided to start this.

well that's Teddy's argument. I don't think it's so unreasonable to want to stop someone from manipulating you to the point where it literally takes over your entire life. especially when he's making you kill innocent people (or people who have done you no harm at least). I suppose he could have gotten the tattoo, but maybe he's not quite ready to actually acknowledge that he's "done" - maybe he feels at some level like he needs to continue the search, but without it leading to him murdering people at Teddy's whim.

alternatively, he may not have been able to bear the fact that Teddy knew how his wife really died. maybe he saw the existence of that information as a threat to the single-minded persona he had created for himself.

anyway, I think it was a very interesting ending. I think you're expecting way too much rationality and cold-heartedness out of Leonard if you really think he should have bought the "well, it's giving your life a purpose, right? we're helping each other out!" line. Teddy was essentially making a mockery of his entire reason for living. I don't think his actions were at all unbelievable.

yeah i still think it was a fine ending. i'm just saying i think he's a prick... or just more of a maniac than i was expecting, and it made me . not that he should have just bought teddy's line and been done. but he didn't even know who teddy was 1 minute earlier, he just had a blank picture, no notes. he goes from that, to setting himself up to kill him, just based on teddy saying that he'd already gotten the killer. crazy

you're right, i was just expecting Leonard to be a more rational guy, and that he was better at dealing with his condition, better at being a detective with his condition. there are clues throughout the movie that he writes down notes way too whimsically ("she will help you out of pity"), but i just thought this would end up in someone else leading him in the wrong direction, not him fabricating shit for himself. its not that its a bad ending, just a sad ending, to me

Hahaha!

Something I really liked about Memento's ending - or begining? - was the idea of manipulating yourself. "Current Leonard" had been manipulating himself with his notes all through the story and generally wrote things down and kept them in a specific way so "Future Leonard" would understand them.

With the ending, he'd manipulated himself to do something that was only justified to "Past Leonard"; to "Current Leonard" Teddy is always his friend. He trusted himself, and he lead himself astray using that trust, to the point of killing someone he believed was his friend.

With Teddy dead, he took a photo of his body. We can only assume he noted on it that 'John G' was now dead. What would he do once he reset?

See this ammo sprite from Duke Nukem 3D?

After looking at it, it has a striking resemblance to modern day docking iPod boomboxes. Perhaps 3D Realms should sign a contract to spearhead that design for real life iPod dock boomboxes in that design.

Edit: not really, but rather it looks more like a DeWalt worker's boombox.
