I've heard horrible stories about war...
Also every once in a while citys need to be evacuated because of ww2 bombs that are found and need to be defused.
I know one time where neighbours of us were enlarging their garden and found a british aircraft bomb while digging, good times.
We have bomb craters here so big that they became lakes later-on. I was kind of shocked when I learned this.

Haha cool, I have family in Neuss. I go there all the time. My great uncle was in the Hitler Youth and his older brother fought in the war. So yeah, I have family on both sides of the war, which is pretty thought-provoking.

I've been to the Skihalle a few times because they live within walking distance of it. I can't really think of anywhere else because we tend to drive to places out of Neuss. Like, last time I was there we went to Schloss Dyck, which was 25km away or something. We'll sometimes go to Mettmann for the day too because we have more family there.

the fascinating part for me about Germany in WW1 and WW2 was that they always had better stuff than the allies. better weapons, better tactics, better technology in general, and yet they still lost both world wars. nowadays we fight insurgents that have little or no technology and blow them away from earth's orbit before they even know what hit them...and yet we can't even accomplish anything.

One of the writers from SA wrote a book called 'My Tank is Fight!' it's about failed inventions of WWII and like 95% of it is German and it's really fucking cool if you're into war tech.

Man, I met this nerdy but really nice guy at uni and he showed me the wikipedia page for this colossal tank that had been designed (but cancelled before it was built) that would have fired 8m rounds. It was unbelievable. Would have been 42m long and 7m high.

This is the biggest ever made:

That bitch is 10m long and 4m tall.

You might be thinking of the Ratte, which was 35m long

oh wait, not the Ratte,
you were thinking of the Monster

problem is the Monster was limited by rail transport, so it was pretty fucking useless.

The Ratte could've gone anywhere

Man, WWII shit rules

Yeah.
Maus is the picture, Ratte is the huge one just beneath the boundaries of ridiculousness and Monster is ... is that. What the fuck is that picture? I thought they never built a Monster, not even a prototype.

That's a picture of a Dora cannon, which the Monster was to be built out of. Basically, put wheels on one of these:

Two Doras existed and both saw use but like I said before, thing is built on a fucking railroad track. Thing is fucking useless.

as bad as the nazis were they really had some pretty interesting experiments and inventions. Imagine being a scientist and your job was to find a way to only create children with blue eyes and blond hair. Or come up with a way to modify someone's genetic code to do this?
