You know what I'd want to hear? I Won't Back Down, by Tom Petty, covered by The Offspring. Like, think about what that would sound like. It kinda fits.

I always wished I had a relative who fought in WW2, as stupid as that sounds. I'd love to hear some first-hand war stories... although i've heard a lot of ww2 vets will only share war stories with other vets.

speaking of ww2:

The largest ever consignment of precious metal found in the sea - 200 tons of silver worth £148m - has been discovered along with the wreck of a British cargo ship sunk during the Second World War by a German U-boat.

Yeah, I know what you mean. He died of a heart attack when my dad was 18 so I never got to hear his stories. He was in the Royal Artillery and spent time in Africa and Europe. My dad says he didn't talk much about it but he knows he was at Dunkirk and, during the evacuation, ended up swimming out into the sea (not sure why - it might have been during one of the attacks by the Luftwaffe, or maybe it was all badly organised and he got impatient) and got picked up by a fishing trawler. He used to have a nightmare about a time his unit were hiding in a trench and a German plane kept flying over ad trying to bomb them.

My grandpa was in a submarine in the Battle of the Atlantic. I heard like 3 stories from him. And then a tumor took it's toll.

New York City Elevators....avoid at all costs

exhibit a)
Quote:

NEW YORK (AP) — A woman was killed in a freak elevator mishap Wednesday at a Madison Avenue office building, police and fire officials said.
The woman was stepping onto the elevator on the first floor when either her foot or leg became caught in the closing doors. The car then rose abruptly, dragging her body into the shaft and killing her, officials said.
The elevator then became stuck between the first and second floors. Two people who were on the elevator were taken to a hospital to be evaluated for psychological trauma but weren't physically injured, Fire Department officials said.

exhibit b)
(this happened today in Brooklyn)
a crazy person in an exterminators outfit boards an elevator with a woman and douses her in gasoline and burns her alive.

thats so fucking scary. i wouldnt say i have a fear of elevators, but i always feel uneasy with them (i don't like anything that takes control entirely away from me)

i usually take the stairs if its 4 floors or less anyway
haha i just remembered in high school, the janitor saw me going up 2 flights of stairs and said how it was a good idea and how he'd never trust the elevators etc. turns out he was RIGHT

Based on your evidence, elevators are only an issue for women.
