i completely agree that citizens need a way to protect themselves, there are tons of non lethal weapons like tasers, pepper spray, or even guns with rubber bullets for that purpose.

youre right, concealed hand guns are legal in some states, but say you wake up at midnight to a noise, grab your gun, its late at night, you're tired, and your teenager walks in with some of his friends, and you get scared and shoot them all thinking they are robbers

in the middle east, every citizen DOES have access to assault rifles, and look what happens there.

I'm pretty sure that's not accurate either.

in such broad complications, there is no "accurate" or "innaccurate", just making a note of a few possible scenarios

when i say "everyone" i mean it isnt hard for someone with violent intent to get a hold of an ak47, look at all the shootouts and bombings that occur daily in these areas, this is because anyone can get a hold of assault rifles and explosives, just take a scan on the events at cnn.com to see what im talking about

Are you aware that Washington DC has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, and yet is one of the most dangerous and violent cities in America? Meanwhile states like Florida, Tennessee, and Michigan have passed laws allowing citizens to carry concealed weapons in the past 10 years, and violent crime has actually dropped.

These people often get their weapons illegally. Banning handguns doesn't really stop criminals from acquiring them...all banning handguns does is prevent law-abiding people from having them.

I can't believe you're blaming mall/school shootings on lack of gun control. You know what would help those situations? If there were more people to defend against psychos like that (who, by the way, can get guns if they want to no matter what laws prevent it).

I mean, it's not a bad topic, and since you're in rehab, I'm happy to boost your self-esteem, but if your disagreement with McCain's gun control policy is what makes him a "sack of shit" what does that make you?

no, his intent on spending the majority of our countries budget on the military and at the same time denying federal funding towards citizens in this country makes him someone i wouldnt want running the country

Sure there is. Protection.

Again, creating laws that disallow people from owning assault rifles won't stop criminals from getting them. All it will do is prevent law-abiding people from getting them. And these are people who, on the whole, use them safely and correctly.

giving every citizen access to fully automatic rifles is akin to the Mutually Assured Destruction approach to nuclear weapons, sure, it kept us out of nuclear war for fourty years, but what happens when someone goes off?

Here's a question for you...

Let's say that every woman in New York City is issued a bright pink handgun and is trained how to use it. They are also permitted to conceal the gun on their person at all times.

What effect do you think this would have on crime? Would muggings against females go down? Rape? Harassment? Kidnapping? Murder?

Or do you think that crime would get worse?
