So my housemate is saying that with that video, the way that the drawn light reflects on the objects around, that is IMPOSSIBLE to do with effects. He says that the light HAS to be in real life, there is no way to create reflected light. Is that true? Did they have to use a real light to get the reflection in that video?

It would be impractical to do otherwise.

That's what I figured, but the main thing is that I think its POSSIBLE to do it otherwise, he says it is impossible (and he works with graphic design and 3d video stuff, so I figure he knows more about this).

It is possible, but the sheer amount of work it would take to custom taylor a funk-ass light source like that to each individual frame is unthinkable so, while you could technically do it, it's impossible to do because of the sheer time factor involved.

holy. fucking. shit. read now.

..oh my god.

world war three is RIGHT around the corner if something doesnt happen, and FAST.

just a little summary of todays news

Quote:
Bush leaves it to Olmert to push Mideast peace
AP - Thu May 15, 2:08 PM ET

JERUSALEM - President Bush gently urged Mideast leaders to "make the hard choices necessary for peace," leaving it to embattled Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to stand before a divided parliament Thursday and forcefully declare that this war-weary nation is ready for a historic agreement with Palestinians.

Bush calls new attack on US his worst worry
AP - Tue May 13, 11:55 PM ET

WASHINGTON - President Bush said Tuesday he was disappointed in "flawed intelligence" before the Iraq war and was concerned that if a Democrat wins the presidency in November and withdrew troops prematurely it could "eventually lead to another attack on the United States

McCain outlines vision of Iraq victory, reduced partisanship
AP - Thu May 15, 12:01 AM ET

COLUMBUS, Ohio - John McCain, looking through a crystal ball to 2013 and the end of a prospective first term, sees "spasmodic" but reduced violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden dead or captured and government spending curbed by his ready veto pen.

Quote:
Obama says Bush falsely accused him of appeasement
AP - Thu May 15, 6:10 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama accused President Bush of "a false political attack" Thursday after Bush warned in Israel against appeasing terrorists — early salvos in a general election campaign that's already blazing even as the Democratic front-runner tries to sew up his party's nomination.

New Russian president vows to fund nuclear weapons

MOSCOW - President Dmitry Medvedev made his debut as the commander in chief of Russia's armed forces Thursday, touring a missile base and promising to provide the funding needed for nuclear forces to counter global threats.

Quote:
COLUMBUS, Ohio (CNN) -- Sen. John McCain envisions that by 2013, the Iraq war will be won, but the threat from the Taliban in Afghanistan won't be eliminated, even though Osama bin Laden will have been captured or killed.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/...013/index.html

Quote:
He also believes that in 2013, there still will not have been a "major terrorist attack in the United States since September 11, 2001."

Other milestones McCain hopes to see at the end of what would be his first term are:

Witnessing Russia and China cooperating in "pressuring Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions, and North Korea to discontinue its own."

Significantly increasing the size of the Army and Marine Corps, which will be "better equipped and trained to defend us."

The application of "stiff diplomatic and economic pressure" by the United States -- acting in concert with a newly formed League of Democracies -- to cause Sudan to agree to a multinational peacekeeping force, with NATO countries providing logistical and air support, to stop the genocide in Darfur.

Several years of robust economic growth.

Taxpayers filing under a flat tax.

The world food crisis ending, low inflation and a "much-improved" quality of life "not only in our country but in some of the most impoverished countries around the world."

More accessible health care for Americans and an easing of pressure on Medicare because of lower health care costs.

A United States well on its way to "independence from foreign sources of oil."

A Social Security system that is solvent, does not reduce benefits for those nearing retirement and includes individual retirement accounts

The confirmation of "scores of judges" to the federal district and appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

A secure southern border for the United States after "tremendous improvements to border security infrastructure and increases in the border patrol, and vigorous prosecution of companies that employ illegal aliens."

McCain also made veiled criticism of President Bush when he said, "I will exercise my veto if I believe legislation passed by Congress is not in the nation's best interests, but I will not subvert the purpose of legislation I have signed by making statements that indicate I will enforce only the parts of it I like."

Bush has made a practice of issuing signing statements that outline portions of legislation he will not enforce or abide by because he felt that they infringed on his executive powers.

McCain pledged to work with members of either party to make the country safer and more prosperous.

Sen. McCain says Iraq war will be "won," most of U.S. troops will return home
