i guess i dont really mind the jokes themselves, some of them can be pretty funny, but as soon as the format becomes popular its reamed senseless until the humor is supposed to just come from the "joke framework" rather than anything actually funny

its kinda like that "loud = funny" thing that chris was talking about like "heres that thing you know about or recognise => laugh now". im sure the first time that was done it was probably pretty funny, but now - good gracious.

maybe its not even the jokes i mind, when the format becomes popular, everyone uses them, and because of this someone thinks they can plug something thoroughly not funny into the machine and produce gold.

it was a dark day when i noticed real life friends who are not internet savvy using words like "epic", "win" and "fail". im thinking to myself if you knew where those words came from, and the kind of dorks who use them, you'd be appalled at yourself.

Ugh this. And not just being loud, but your status too. Like, everyone knows the joke where you're all "I slept like a baby last night; I woke up three times crying my eyes out and then I pissed myself in the early hours" so people wouldn't laugh if you just said it among friends or family, but I've seen 3 different stand-ups get huge laughs from it, just because the audience are thinking "This man is funny. I am here to laugh. That joke was funny!"
