In grade 7 I was sent home one time because I talked back to my french teacher. She was from Quebec and she had a thick Quebec accent. During the day, one by one, we had to stand up in front of the class and read out of the french textbook (I think it was part of a play or something). I apparently failed at doing that and the teacher asked me to redo it because my accent was off. I replied, "Well, you don't speak english properly, but I don't ask you to repeat things." Everyone is the class laughed really hard and she lost complete control of the class and I was sent to the office.

My mom came and picked me up and asked me my side of the story (only trouble I ever got into as a kid was not doing homework), and I told her. She laughed and said that was rude and I should have known she would have been upset by that comment. I watched cartoons for the rest of the afternoon and had a big bowl of ice cream
