when I was 11 or 12, I really liked I Love Lucy. I haven't seen an episode in ten years or so.

My mom got me the entire series for Christmas. 194 episodes in a big, heart shaped collector's box that looked like it was never meant to be opened. It also fell apart when I opened it.

If your parent asks what you'd like for Christmas, do not say "nothing" or "I don't care."

It's symbolic for the progress through history. It starts by the conservatives driving trying to escape the gays that are chasing them (conservative represented by the farming tractor). Then it transforms through technology into something stranger and less recognizeable, a humanoid machine capable of better outracing that which is seen as immoral.

So the two gays don't simply represent homosexuality but in general what religious and instinctual morality of tradition oppose, which is largely the behaviors that make us seem like the animals (which we are of course, but we have denied this throughout history).

The machine eventually crashes (as it must), being blown up by a strange creature born from the genitals of the symbol of primitive decay (according to old tradition) and lands destroyed in the forest. But now the two gays chase the creature born from them off into the horizon. So its saying that the race through history will not end when the machine crashes, and in fact the machine will be destroyed by man's inner truth which is always trying to catch up with the machine.
