Holy shit I've never played Minecraft or seen it before but it has exactly the same artstyle as 3D Dot Game Heroes.

However, Minecraft might be really old and maybe it just looks like that because it's old.

I know it definitely didn't copy it and the view in game is top down like Zelda. I don't know how you can say it doesn't have a similar look in the environments.

minecraft is actually a direct rip off of a game whose fucking title I can't remember. it's like "infermer" or something. infermer looks EXACTLY like minecraft and that's where notch took the visual style from. it was more of an actual game where you had to mine for things to get certain achievements. and it was all lava / dirt terrain and it was a limited map.

I'm pretty sure the blocky style and the textures is a defining look for both games.
