i actually love to bash the hypocrisy of the basic-bitch conservatives, but you're being just as intellectually dishonest as they are, shaun, if not moreso

they also endlessly celebrate legal immigrants.

its easy to criticize t_d for being really silly, cause it IS a silly place, and everyone there knows it. but your criticisms are really wacky
I was conflating Islam/brown people on purpose, mockingly. Is there a fundamental difference between targeting for skin color or religion? Do you think "Thanks T_D for the reminder I should be afraid of Muslims!!" is somehow better? Well, it's not. It is extremely extremely unlikely you or anyone you know will ever be hurt by Islamic terrorism. So why even bring it up?

look at the frontpage stuff it is competing with:

its a stupidity spiral. the difference is t_d embraces the silly end of things, while everyone else is huffing and puffing in anger while trying to wear a troll mask

What incidents exactly? Besides 9/11, there have been about a dozen Islamic terrorist attacks in the US in the past 30 years. This was a post literally reminding people to be fearful of Muslims. How does that help anything? To say Trump's policies have support doesn't support Trump's policies.

I'm not sure there are any views in the_donald that are exclusive to it. So you can't use the argument they're just battling trolls from the left.

Where's the serious pro-Trump sub, then?

i have a serious question for shaun and other liberals:

if republicans and conservatives specifically said that wahhabi or salafi islam is incompatible with the west, would that be acceptable?

what's the point at which the criticism of religion becomes too broad?

I believe criticsm falls under free speech, but the real question to be aked is "at what point is the implementation of anti-muslim policies too broad?"

We don't need these reminders because you're not supposed to be afraid of Muslims!! the odds of being hurt/killed in a terrorist attack are almost nothing!! Less than being struck by lightening! Especially in the US. The second biggest Islamic terrorist attack on US soil was the disgruntled gay guy from Florida last year, who was probably not even motivated by religion.

Good question. It depends on the size of the group and their propensity for violence or whatever unacceptable behavior. With Islam as a whole we're talking a billion+ people.

but he's specifically talking about wahhabist/salafist culture. which like... i guess it depends on your definition of "western culture"? maybe there is no such thing? or maybe it's defined by its permeability? but honestly, by almost any rubric, wahhabism/salafism is totally incompatible with almost anything else. one of the cornerstones of those movements is total theocratic islamic law. not sure how that can coexist with concepts like "freedom of religion" which is pretty important in a liberal state

i know i probably have made an impression of myself amongst the isaac/lohr/mong/quilt crowd as an insufferable militant leftist, but i'm not really opposed to the muslim ban at all. i think it was really haphazardly implemented (like everything else trump has done so far), but conceptually i'm not opposed to restricting access to the US based on country of origin, or even religious affiliation. good immigrants are good, bad immigrants are bad. at the end of the day, i only care about what benefits my homeland and people. in this sense, my philosophy is not so different from the race warriors

There are anti Islamic extremism policies being pushed that extend to the populations of several Muslim countries, I assume because a good percentage of those populations practice wahhabi Islam (cultivating said extremism).

People don't tend to discuss the incompatibility of groups without hoping for action towards those ideas

by no means!

your opinions are too interesting. but i do despise the antifas and black bloc guys. not sure why, they just annoy me. perhaps if the dirtbag neo-nazis got a free pass from the media, i'd find them just as irritating
