There's a bajillion cleansers that use actual sand/grit/natural occuring things to get this effect.

I don't think I've ever actually seen a MICROBEAD product in Canada. Plastic balls what? All the shit I've seen has like "Volcanic sediment" or "coconut sand" or some shit.

That plankton isn't eating microbeads from acne scrub and Crest toothpaste, Chris; it's eating plastic that could be from anywhere. Like I said, plastic breaks down after long exposures to sunlight/UV rays.

I actually witnessed this first-hand. I once left a single-CD case (a soft one, not a hard jewel-case) in the back of my car for over a year, and it just sat in the rear windshield for all that time because I was too lazy to throw it out. Well one day I finally decided to pick it up, and when I grabbed it, it broke apart into hundreds of pieces....

Plastic may eventually breakdown into microplastic (plastics smaller than one millimeter) like my CD case or what you see the plankton eating. That's why it's a big deal.

Microbeads are just a tiny subset of all microplastics. So the bill to ban microbeads is kind of a joke because it's really a ban on like, 0.0000001% of plastic could be eaten by small creatures
