it kinda did. some of the weapon changes were tons of fun though. my favorite loadout in the game came way later on (engineer with mini-sentries and crit-building shotgun). but after a while there's just so much shit to remember.

i dunno i havent been playing videogames much these days but in my like 20 hours of overwatch, it feels way more spammy even though there's less players. i hate the ultimate system, it should reward skill by resetting on death, instead dying can even be helpful with the current system. spamspamspam. its a fun game for bullshitting around but in 20 hours i never had moments as intense as TF2's best moments could be.

the optimistic part of me suspects that the US is done with pointless muscle-flexing and grandiose gestures of moral superiority, like regime changing and etc.

which means hopefully an approach toward russia rooted more closely in IR realism

but on the other hand, i'm not seeing any rhetoric from democratic statesmen that gives hope for that whatsoever, or any concrete signs of it in terms of policy. the only evidence i'm giong on is, the US has worse issues in the domestic sphere that need more urgent attention, there is a populist pressure against liberal interventionism (partly due to the apathy of nonwhite citizens - something they've definitely been useful for), and the country is overall probably a bit weary of war all the way down the line. that same evidence is why noam chomsky doesn't think it's a big deal that hillary is being backed by prominent neoconservatives, some of whom master-minded the iraq war. but this is not much evidence at all, and it assumes a degree of competence on the US government that i don't think ought to be attributed to it. moral fervor is always the logic-killer, and US foreign policy has been controlled by deeply moralistic think tanks and policy wonks who are quite high on the smell of their own farts for some time now. even if trump wins, they'll still have tremendous amount of influence once he's done. the money is with them.
