It's probably because the plot was just a rehash of pocohantas/dancing with wolves

also nausicaa valley of the wind. but having just read the plot from wikipedia, it just seems like a needlessly convoluted movie as well, one whose sheer wonkiness combined with self-satisfied moralism is sure to make it forgettable. plus, the CG is already dated.

note that when you watch good animation, like the old bob clampett cartoons from the 40s, it still looks fresher and less dated than avatar, let alone the horrible CG stuff being done in the late 90s.

The plan is for the government to push everyone into radical viewpoints until the general public reaches a consensus that the general public should never make democratic decisions.

That post only looks crazy if you forget how the public has been conditioned for the past few years.

i think its more like, of course their family, who knew them from birth, might use the pronoun they knew them for the majority of their life, especially when speaking about their life as a whole

right, just like every Pixar movie after Toy Story

(you are actually allowed to improve the CGI in your sequels you know! they're not still gonna be using 2009 technology)

well how far can they really go is my question
we already have pretty believable life like graphics in video games, so anything they'd push out would have to surpass that, and that'd be pretty difficult.

also nausicaa is an incredible movie. anything studio ghibli blew my mind as a kid, and even rewatching them today, they're amazing movies. my favorite one probably has to be spirited away, followed by castle in the sky and princess mononoke.

princess mononoke is one of my fav movies ever. it just speaks to me on some profound level that i can't articulate. some of the imagery gives me goose bumps every time.

nausicaa is my second-favorite, i love the moebius

yeah Miyazaki is another example of how cel animation just ages better

very few movies these days are being made to live on as classics

yeah I agree. it's why the best kids films are ones that don't bother trying to be contemporary. it'll be interesting to see which kids films from this decade will stand the test of time. inside out, the how to train your dragon flicks, and lego movie all have a good chance imo

You see Song of the Sea?

I think I liked that better than Kells, but both amazing films.

okay there was this one made by someone related to miyazaki, and there was a fight scene where a kid fought with his sword still in the hilt
it started off with a boat scene

I've never seen it but it was likely Tales from Earthsea, which is his son Goro's film.
