the bulk of this article is dedicated to making grandiose statements about The Way We Live Now based on the interface of a couple of apps.

it's a little funny, sure, but there is zero intellectual rigor to this. it's a bunch of anecdotes that are not connected persuasively (unless you consider putting two sentences together to be a connection)

if the author wanted to talk about a hamster and its relationship (or lack thereof) to adulthood, he should have written about xhamster.

Black Lives Matter UK protesters arrested after blocking London airport runway

A bunch of middle-class hippies (probably) shutdown the runway for hours because climate change is racist toward black people.

one positive thing about the guardian i'll say is that it does manage to cover classical music well

i can just type in something obscure like "myaskovsky 10th symphony" and they'll have a whole discussion on it

europe in general is much better at this sort of thing

this is a pretty fascinating notion:

It's a brilliant, and as far as I'm aware, unique idea - a full-size symphony orchestra that operated without a maestro, a vision of a genuinely un-hierarchical, quasi-communist music-making. But I'm not surprised that the Persimfans performance of the 10th was something of a disaster: Miaskovsky's music, cast in a single, 17-minute movement, presents huge technical challenges for its large orchestra (as you can see from the score); if you throw into the mix that the players have to get it all together without somebody on the podium coordinating the symphony's shocking changes of tempo, texture, and mood, and the sheer, violent energy of its fast music, the result must have been chaotic.

of course a symphony without a conductor would fail

orchestral music is fascistic by its very nature. that's why it's so great.

I really sucked the first time I played. Didn't know what the hell I was doing. Restarted and now I suck less. I don't get the power plants in the game. Can I find coal to recharge my coal plants? (same with oil? they kept running out of juice) cuz I kept replacing them and eventually just said fuck it and built a bunch of water/wind turbine things. GREEN ENERGY!

coal and oil will just be imported. as long as the road that your power plant is on has access to the outside highways and it has water, you'll be fine. (you can also get your own oil or coal by placing industrial zones over natural oil/ore resources and then making that area into a district and changing the district's industry type to oil/ore. you can't make districts until your city is fairly big though.)

green energy is better anyway though, yeah. don't bother with solar plants unless you've turned off the day/night cycle though because they don't function at night, which makes them pretty much useless

its the best city builder ive seen. the fact that everything only happens because of each individual citizen (traffic, etc) is amazing. but ive only played it like 15 hours on release. i hear they've added day/night cycles which i should check out

I like night time (but it does get hard to see at night!)... but yeah, if solar power doesn't work at night, I will avoid it.

I have a low end industrial zone where I put them all around my wind turbines. It's funny cuz they always close down, lol rofl

Cities Skylines is a great game although there was one issue I kept having where the accelerator broke and I couldn't speed up time in between building new areas. Maybe they patched it but I know others were having the same problem.
