forbes has been often confused ever since they started attempting to do mainstream entertainment news, well since i first noticed them doing this around 2012. some articles have been ridiculous. some are ok though

it's jsut funny cos the journalist is like, aware that he's fucking around, and being like "he's attempting to troll me as part of his subversive humor" but then she quotes him in full as if it's real, and then later adds a statement indicating that *that* was a troll as well, since she apparently couldn't figure it out at the time

i'm glad that all these internet assholes are turning their clickbait-jockeying into even more of a joke than it is

when clickbait journalism dies out completely, i might actually start to miss it

ad blockers are growing and growing, and more companies aren't shelling out the shekels for on-page ads

this has been happening for a while. one way around it is by having the advertisers pay for 'sponsored content' that actually tries to be good content. this has been an interesting strategy, but it seems to be too much effort for what amounts to meager results

other companies do ads as go-betweens when you click the little clickbait icons on the side of the screen. but i think that can be a liability, since journalism is getting sleazier and sleazier while people are simultaneously getting more and more offended about nothing. there's no guarantee that your brand won't be associated with some offensively shitty little clickbait headline in people's minds

as more people get ad blockers, more sites try to go around it. some of them say things like "whoops! you have an ad blocker! disable it or you can't see the page," but market research indicates that most people with ad blockers just dont bother to read the content. the smarter ones just disable the javascript, so that way, they dont see the ads OR the little message

it's a growing problem for these sites. a lot of them are just scrapping the whole pay-per-click model and trying to get people to subscribe by giving a limited amount of page views. but that model doesnt' seem to work well either.

my guess is, the internet will hurt the profits for journalism all-around as advertisers just stop caring. more journalists will build themselves up as a brand and get their own little clan of followers to read them on their own personal blogs. steve sailer has been forced into this position, but mostly because he's a non-faggoty right-winger, and any non-faggoty right winger is basically a persona non grata in the world of mainstream ideas in our waning dildocracy known as the united states of america
