It's interesting to me, and I do appreciate any kinda creative art but it just isn't enjoyable to listen to. Similar to screamo, hxc, certain types of metal, or that cd with the roman bust on the front that samples elevator music...the memellennials gave it it a clever genre name but I can't think of it off the top of mean head, something to do with oceans or dolphins.


So yea I appreciate the creative talent but I just can't enjoy it. It's like any art, some of it is more interesting to me than others.

I listened to exmilitary and the money store a few times. I liked exmilitary a lot more than money store because it's not AS experimental and despite being very EXPERIMENTAL it just has an overall more hip-hoppy sound IMHO. Beware is such an awesome opening track. I like all he way they have Charles Manson talking over Jane's Addiction, and Ride's verses are pretty 'traditional' for lack of a better word. Honestly the entire album, despite being very EXPERIMENTAL, is just a lot easier for me to listen to compared to money store because there's a lot more sampling than just strait from scratch production. (That one track with the song from pulp fiction when uma and travolta first start talking to eachother is well done, there's another song that samples black flag I liked but I can't remember what it's called.) I tried listening to no love deep web and just couldn't get into it at all. I didn't listen to it more than once and didn't enjoy the one listen I gave it. I listened to Money Store a few times but never got super into it. A lot of their stuff seems absurd for the sake of absurdity. It's not that they're BAD, I just think it's ridiculous the kind of following they established. As far as internet underground rappers that managed to establish a following I prefer shit like Lil Ugly Mane a lot more. (Christo check him out he from Richmond. I may have told you about him.)




TLDR: It's weird to me that ppl who can't stand normal hip hop music think death grips is this amazing savior of hiphop duo.



EDIT: Yes, Vaporwave. Macintosh Plus specifically. I feel like there's a decent portion of fans that don't actually enjoy the music as much as they say, but just want to be part of some top secret cool exclusive club that normies wouldn't understand. (This judgemental theory also applies to Austin French Fry's opinion of Death Grips.)

vaporwave usually sounds good, the problem with it is that its generally the laziest form of sampling there is. i mean, that Mac Plus first track:
