12 people killed in a coffee shop shooting in [insert first world country], tons of media attention with focus on the family members and memorials

It's pretty simple, Austin. People have to watch the news for the news to make money. So the news is going to sensationalize and report on what will make them money.

And by "news" I mean the televised news stations. If you want world news you actually have to go look for it. It's there, but it's not the news in the forefront (cause it makes less money).
