i'm sure you guys all know the old quip about how you could hypothetically spell "fish" as "ghoti" right?

because the "gh" can have an "f" sound, the "o" can have an "ih" sound (as in "women"), and the "ti" can make a "sh" (as in "lotion")

english spelling is indeed a huge mess

in fact, they went out of their way to make it retarded in the 17-18th centuries. for a long time we were spelling "debt" as "dett" or "dette," but then some asshole was like "hey wait a minute! the original latin root word is "debitum" so we should put the "B" back in there!!!!" hey, thanks, douche!

I was just reading an article on Clock Boy. It wouldn't surprise me either way if he planned this or not. If he's smart enough to build a clock, he's smart enough to use race to advantage and concoct a get-rich-quick scheme.

It's easy to imagine the whole thing being a non-incident. "It's a clock?? Oh well, nice work Ahmed. You can go back to class now." Indeed that's the rational intelligent response. But how much racial hostility was there for Ahmed in Irving, Texas prior to this event? That's the real question. If there was a fair amount, then Ahmed should've had the foresight to predict a negative reaction (maybe not to the extent of it becoming a national news story). So did he walk into this on purpose? Is this what he wanted?

It's certainly nicer to think that people who detained Ahmed are just a bunch of racist assholes and here's a smart kid who's a victim in all this.

I want to see what he does with the money if/when he gets it

Here's the only thing in the article that stuck out to me:

i mean, havent we gone over the details a billion times?

-he rips the guts out of a normal alarm clock, places it into something that looks like a miniature briefcase

- there is no assignment necessitating anything like this

- it's near september 11, but not exactly on it

- he sets the alarm to go off in his english class (why would he set the alarm?)

- he is blatantly fiddling with it in his english class, not his shop class

- when the authorities approach him, he refuses to cooperate or answer any questions

- he gets in trouble for a hoax bomb, since imitating weapons is taken as a serious offense

- we learn that is dad is a serial attention whore

- we also learn that his sister has gotten into trouble for a bomb threat

everything about this is ridiculous and should not be taken remotely seriously

since 1995 namco has had a patent on loading screen minigames. it expires now. thats kinda crazy. i'd wondered why nobody gave us minigames during load screens.

What I don't get is that Trump called the journalist a "really nice guy" right before making fun of his disability.

Probably his biggest gaffe yet. That'll definitely cost him some support. Trump doesn't know when to stop.
