Is what that guy saying about the treatment actually true though, that you only need 100 of them? I thought you had to continually take it.

Does this drug actually get used for AIDS or was that misinformation?

Daraprim treats people with malaria and compromised immune systems, like from AIDS or cancer. it cures a common parasite that literally half the people in the world have in their bodies. maybe 1 out of 10,000 people need the drug, probably less. you don't have to take it your whole life. but at its current price it costs over $600,000 for a year of treatment if you weigh over 132 pounds (60kg)

The thing about this pharma company Turing is that they produce only for the US. But anyone with a credit card can still import this medication for around $2 a pill. so it's doubly sad to see there's a new payment assistance program solely for this one drug. some of the more illicit online pharmacies don't even require a prescription!

You're damn right!

but I will say that this Salvo activist group was actually named after Suzanne Vega, aka "mother of the MP3", but apparently Suzanne Somers became the avatar for the YTMND user who's left a big impression on YTMND this year.

Many people thought that user was me, but Johnny Lurg, or some anonymous geek must be making funny sites that make users think its me. I guess thats what happens when you show loyalty to an activist group, that detractors tend to hold the big shots of the Internet responsible.

My god was the music on these volumes of the supremo soundtrack awesome!

It kinda makes me laugh that each volume of suzanne's supremo soundtrack has a Leonard Cohen song in them, oh and you'd never expect a song from Initial D to be on the same mixtape as a Leonard Cohen song would be, let alone four of them, thats how weird it gets.

Because doesn't it make sense that that's the reason why a free entertainment activist group named the record label "Suzanne Records". In which its like Napster all over again with free MP3s on the Internet available for download.

also, the whole thing looks designed to resemble a briefcase bomb. it's worth noting that the texas school rules say that hoax bombs are not allowed, and that's what he got in trouble for. i'm kind of sympathetic to kids getting in trouble for stuff like this, since i had to visit the school psychologist for making drawings about guns and shit, but this whole situation just seems phony as shit

Yeah this is shady

I dunno, I thought it looked like a "briefcase bomb" from the photo, until I saw this video are realized it was like, 3x smaller than I thought it was.

I think it's stupid but I also think that it was stupid to arrest him for it. Just settle it with a fucking parents-teacher conference, if it's causing such a major disruption. No need to arrest a 14-year-old in school for essentially just some mischief.

Maybe he wanted to create this clock in "the style of a bomb" as a PUBLICITY STUNT since 9/11 was an easy date to pull it off on.

it's just an obvious hoax that was designed to attract the media

it's not that the kid is terrible. and if (as i'm assuming) his dad was 100% behind this and trying to concoct a publicity stunt, then i honestly kinda respect that ridiculous dad for his hustle. what i find obnoxious here is A) the media, and B) the moral signalling of dumbass middle and upper-middle class whites (many of whom work for said media)
