I finally got around to playing that Surgeon Simulator 2013 game, knowing full well what it was like. And even though I was expecting the awkward controls and frustrating mechanics, I've never gotten so angry so quick at a game. How the fuck are you meant to pull this man's heart out.

So, because of that Old Spice thing, I've been trying to learn how to turn a sample into a playable instrument today. I made this:

though I imagine that nobody from outside of the UK is going to know what Fawlty Towers is. BUT YOU ALL SHOULD.

hahaha that's fun. Maybe put a mask around the blank space on the top-most layer file?

Reminds me of this:

FL again, so the audio and video are completely separate. I find Ableton kind of daunting, haha.

Sound pretty harsh in places but yeah, I was just getting acquainted with the tools, so I didn't want to start messing with levels and pitch once I was done.

strangely some people just don't get the same sense of wonderment from astronomy. i'm sure there's massively talented people out there who don't know a moon from a piece of cheese. some might argue there's more important things to learn about than sending probes to the moon and mapping it out and its geologic history, etc. I personally find these things interesting but sometimes they do seem a little frivolous when you consider all the problems we face on a global scale that nobody has even properly addressed. While it's interesting to know the secrets of the universe, does having intimate knowledge of the moon increase someones quality of life on earth? I can sort of see why some people don't give a shit.

here's a depressing quote I read on Reddit from David Attenborough:

"Sir David, What are your views on the thought that we are currently entering a 'sixth mass extinction'? Do you think it is possible humans can reverse some of the damage that has already been done? Thank-you so much for everything!"

[–]IamDavidAttenborough[S]
Yes, I'm afraid we are. It's not possible to reverse the damage we've done. We are undoubtedly exterminating species at a speed which has never been known before.

There's one where someone was watching The Cleveland Show and everytime someone on the show said "Stop" the Xbox itself would stop playing. Kinect is so fucking stupid.

Yeah but I think the words that came before "Stop" sounded too much like "Xbox". The worst thing was that when he resumed it, the Xbox started playing from a few seconds prior to the stop, so he was stuck in a loop because it kept going to that same part.

cool, thanks. that is a really neat song. ive been told to play chrono trigger a lot of times but haven't been in the mood for going back to SNES in a long time. that game seems to have so much good music though.

Quote:
Although his official job title was "composer", Mitsuda found himself working more as a sound engineer. Over the next two years, he created sound effects for Hanjuku Hero, Final Fantasy V, Secret of Mana and Romancing SaGa 2.[5] In 1994, realizing that he would never get a chance to move up to a real composition duty without some drastic action and feeling concerned about his low pay, he gave Square's vice president, Hironobu Sakaguchi, an ultimatum: let him compose, or he would quit. Sakaguchi assigned the young musician to the team working on Chrono Trigger, telling him that "after you finish it, maybe your salary will go up". Mitsuda was assigned as the sole composer for the game, in the end creating 54 tracks for the final release. Mitsuda drove himself to work hard on the score, frequently working until he passed out, and would awake with ideas for songs such as the ending theme for the game.[4] He worked so hard that he developed stomach ulcers and had to be hospitalized, which led Uematsu to offer to finish the remaining tracks for him; Uematsu ended up composing ten tracks, one of which he was assisted on by Noriko Matsueda.

Following Chrono Trigger, Mitsuda composed the soundtrack for Front Mission: Gun Hazard, again with Uematsu. According to Uematsu, Mitsuda again worked so much that he eventually defecated blood out of stress and physical problems.

wtf
..i want this sort of determination

That's interesting. I started playing that game a few years ago on an emulator, I loved the music and atmosphere so much, the only reason I stopped playing is because I always have a hard time sticking with RPGS. same with huge open ended games like Fallout 2.
