I don't know, but I assume that the park must be some sort of historical park that existed for a long time.

I know you're joking about the free market, but like.... what gives somebody the right to sell public land?

Police brutality was the issue. Anyway, revolutions have always came out of nowhere in the past.

what are the chances that somebody wants to suddenly destroy a well-loved park? I'm guessing (based on no evidence whatsoever) that the park may have been a gathering place to opponents of somebody in power, and then somebody bought it and was like "ok, this is over. I'm building a mega-mall right here."

and like I said I assume the park has a lot of historic and sentimental importance to the people living there too.

this is a complete guess tho

that park was indeed historic and precious for the citizens. they we're comparing the situation with someone planning to raze a big portion of the new york central park and placing a huge mall on it. the protests now aren't really about the gezi park anymore, they are about a peaceful protest being met with absolutely disproportional police brutality, which is seen as the last straw for many turks. the conservative and religious erdogan administration is by no means very popular for many secular turks. there is recent legislation limiting the sale of alcohol or the banning of kissing, aggressive foreign-policy on syria and corruption in almost all higher positions that is pissing a lot of people off. the protest about the park and the police crackdown was just the hammer that hit the valve.

Looking through shit on my external HD and I found my old 3dmm folder. All the 3dmm movies were deleted long ago to save space but for some reason I kept all the readmes and stuff that came with the films. This one is a favourite: "Replay Detective Manual.txt":

Code:
Detective Manual - (For Game Purposes Only) ==== Suspect List ------------ ------------ ==== Special Notes ------------ ------------

Because there was a lot to keep track of, y'know.

just found the lyrics for a james burgon/cal flavell rap song. Cal's first line is "it's a beautiful night to start a gangsta fight"

RT celebrating their 1.000.000.000 views on youtube with a retrospect of major events and their coverage since 2007. I know you guys all hate RT, but there is some amazing footage in there. Feels good to have a counter-weight to a lot of the pro-western biased bullshit that they tend to call news here.

In fact they did a wonderful job covering the protests in turkey and are even DDoS attacked for that right now apparently.

This one is an R&B classic from the late 90s.
