wow, that's insane. so much of that could have been done fairly easily without CGI though...I guess it's just gotten to the point where it's cost and time-effective to use it instead of building sets or hiring a bunch of extras sometimes. crazy.

yeah that's mad, i never even thought about it.

Funnily enough i've been rewatching The Wire and the CGI in that is pretty bad (building being demolished in s3, smoke in distance in s5)

For Boardwalk it kind of makes sense since they would have to build all those sets anyway, so why not just do it digitally. Although they did build a large amount of sets for the show.

But you'd be amazed at just how much fake backdrops are put in shows to save money. It's not even CGI, it's just compositing shots of cities so you don't actually have to shoot your scenes in the city.

I only just realised that the music on the character selection screen from Diddy Kong Racing used to change depending on which character you had highlighted. Mind slightly blown.

what show (or movie? i think show) had a cop talk to another cop about how good disability benefits are, and how the guy should get on disability himself... the guy goes to a staircase to fall down it and hopefully break his leg, but someone comes up the stairs so he doesn't do it. then later he does do it, and i think he breaks his neck or something, but lives (edit: wait maybe he dies im not sure)

i thought this was on The Wire, but im searching google for it and i cant find anything

It is the Wire. Series 1 there's two shit cops (or "humps") that got dumped on the unit as the bosses don't think much of it. They really don't wanna be there as it constitutes effort and real police work. One of them get's twatted in the face by Bodie during arrests. He ends up in hospital, medically discharged from the Police.

His mate turns up, who you're thinking of, and that's where they discuss it. There's a sce e later on where hes at the top of the stairs in the detail building. He's thinking of doing it when people walk past who startle him and cant do it.

Later on Daniels transfers him to the medical dept for alcoholism, finally having an excuse to get rid of him for how shit and unwilling he is.

Furthormore, you should watch the Sopranos. It's nearly as good as the wire.

It's been so many years since I watched the Sopranos, I can't even remember the stuff your dad is talking about, although I don't recall carmella being nearly as annoying of a character as hank's wife in breaking bad.

you should just try season 1 and see how you like it.

i'd watch the sopranos but my dad always rants about how like 2 middle seasons started focusing on the wife's life or something, and it completely lost the focus that originally made it a good show, and how if i watched it i'd better be ready to fast-forward a lot once i hit the middle seasons. but maybe hes wrong

so wrong.

i'm too familiar to the original song for that to sound natural at all, every single chord change sounds like a wrong move

haha that's kind of neat, although he did fuck it up momentarily at 3:16

the REM one actually sounds pretty convincing to me, although it's just unsettling listening to it with such a happy sounding vibe.
