i replayed this level so many times as a kid, because i never wrote down the password to save the levels, so every time i stopped playing i'd have to start over. every time the drawbridge started raising, i would try to stay on it for as long as possible. you can keep hopping and stay on it until its almost completely up.

his whip rocked, it can do diagonals and can be dangled to deal damage as seen at 0:57. i was so disappointed when playing one of my first newer castlevanias, how much worse the whip was.

this game's music has a lot of great bass lines.

Its an alright and simple survival sim/dungeon exploring game.

Haha come on guys, the appeal of minecraft is more obvious than a lot of games. It's the sense of progression, you start from nothing, and you venture out more and more each time getting better stuff for your HOUSE or whatever. Building stuff only with what you went out to find, so every block you use has way more value to you as the player.

I haven't played it myself, but hey that's what got me so into World of Warcraft, the clear sense of progression, levelling up, getting better weapons etc. Once I hit the max level of 60, I stopped playing, people say that's the best part of the game, when you're the highest level and can do all the HARDCORE DUNGEONS, but that shit bored the hell out of me, spending hours waiting for a team to get their shit together, and fight through a dungeon only to have a slim chance of an item you want dropping and even then someone else might get it instead of you.

edit: or do you just not understand why people like it solely because you don't like it? it wouldn't be the first time, don't make me give you the "different people like different things" lecture again!

No dude just going out and LOOKING for LEGO MATERIALS so you can build a LEGO HOUSE just seems like...well, exactly how that sounds. The concept of crafting and going down looking through dungeons that are randomly generated anyway just isn't appealing to me at all.

haha sorry, I was drunk. I think yeah I was referring to the "new" features beyond just the sandbox building mode, like having to craft the blocks and kill monsters (?!) and stuff. those things always struck me as a bit unnecessary, but I've never actually tried it, so idk!

yeah i know! but it's more to do with when people say "i don't understand how people like ______", i'm sittin here like WHY NOT? maybe i'm taking the phrase too literally or something

minecraft is fun to different people for different reasons. for me, i don't give a shit about the buildings outside. i always build a little building, and then dig a tunnel that leads to the main rooms underground where i just store shit.

the main fun for me is exploring underground and finding better shit. personally i LOVE the random generation. you go searching for a cave, sometimes you'll come across a shitty one that you hit the end of in like 2 minutes. other times you'll find one that takes 5 hours to explore.

the major problem with this game for people that play like i do is that there is no endgame. you get the best shit and there's nothing left to do. the game simply feels unfinished. you can feel how notch started the game with the intention to be huge, but the RPG aspects didn't get much of anywhere. once you get half-decent equipment, everything is just boring. compare this to a game like Terraria, which has a full fighting system, mana, abilities, merchants to sell and buy stuff from, etc, and its a downright disappointment. this is why every time i start playing minecraft, i suddenly quit just a week or two in - all the fun is in getting your shit together, building the farm, building your storage area, etc. once its all set up, theres nothing to do.

sometimes when i'm out drinking in town, i'll crash at my brothers. for a while it was tradition that i'd climb out of my hangover by booting up the pc and monging-out to minecraft (creative mode).

except... when i was hungover it seemed hilarious to refer to everything as a 'canyon'. at first it made sense, when i was blasting the shit out of mountains with heaps of dynamite. i'd just stick up a little sign "blasthole canyon".

but then when you get to the point where my brother would be walking around in his world the next day after smoking a jay, and he'd find a little wooden hut in the forest with a sign outside saying 'cabin canyon', or a 6ft grave with a sheep trapped in it labelled 'sheephole canyon', it started getting a bit trippy.
