(No, I don't actually believe it's a fucking insectoid but it's still pretty weird so I thought it was worth posting regardless of the title)

Edit: Actually, haha, on second viewing I'm pretty sure it's a helium balloon (one of those shaped ones). Looks like it wobbles around in the wind at the beginning.

A question better suited for the nerdy likes of me is what VCS HAVEN'T I used? haha. I've mostly used git, and on a past job I used ClearCase and a little bit of Visual SourceSafe but both were piles of shit. I've also toyed with cvs, and I've used svn quite a lot too (both on command line and with tortoise). Oh yeah I fucked around with hg and tfs for fun a couple times but never actually used them for a project so I'm not sure of their pros/cons.

i will have a look at git. there are a couple of things that irritate me about svn. i was just curious if theres a gold standard or whatever

DVCS's are kind of the new thing these days. Git and hg (mercurial) are the two most popular. The D stands for distributed, it basically means there is not necessarily one "central" repository with all the history and changes, etc., but instead EVERY working copy has the entire history. This is in contrast to something like SVN which requires one central repo and all the working copies are just one snapshot of it (typically the most recent, unless they haven't updated in a while). But, given the central-repo nature of SVN, it's probably one of the most popular/best of its kind. But yeah it does do many things rather dumbly, but so does everything to be honest. There's always quirks and stupid shit.

Quoting this just to maintain flow of conversation.

We use SVN at work for our source code. Test scripts have to be reviewed with some in-house software but then just end up getting an SVN commit. We used to use CVS for our geometry/CAD/etc files but like a month ago we switched to SVN, which is good, because CVS was a pain in the ass.

Also our in-house tool for script submissions doesn't support the newest version of SVN so it takes about two hours to accept 100 file changes. Fucking terrible when we're at the end of the release cycle and making large submission batches of 500-600 files at a time and it takes days to fucking do.

The team that works on that works on a lot of projects and they're also like, part-time IT? I'm not going to defend it or anything because it would probably take me a half hour to update it to work but pfff if they're going to let an intern fuck with important source code? C'mon.

He knew he was going to hire Hayden Christiansen, so he had to find a child actor with the same acting talents.
