Phil, Its ghost in the shell, by Red "Fucking" Wampa. It deserves to be 1080p.

It can't even be 1080p. You're just upscaling from something stupid like 540x310. You're just making it big and blurry.

yeah. any resolution increase above 3dmm's native resolution can't possibly do anything.

well ive found that on youtube, uploading my footage (which is 1680x1050) at a higher resolution (1920x1200) enables 1080p which ends up looking better than 720p

what i mean is that the video will look better in 720p than it will in 480p wont it? the thing is you are trying to counter youtube's compression and the original video codec compression, which introduce artifacts if you were to just match 3dmm's resolution... its not the same as boosting the res on your monitor to try to make 3dmm look better or something

also i dont think 1440x1080 enables 1080p, does it? i thought that just enables 720p

the best thing about 1920x1200 is that it enables the Original option, which gets rid of all crappy youtube compression:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ffDJMJkAoI

even 1080p has visible annoyances to me (especially in dark areas, they lack detail) compared to Original
edit: wait... can everyone see the Original option, or just me? cause ive never seen anyone else's video with an Original option

I might be upscaling it but with my settings nothing gets blurred or stretched.
the main reason I do this is mainly for testing purposes and against the shitty YT compression (Vimeo is in many better for 3dmm movies usually) since i'm investigating in doing a sort of hack for 3dmm which is increasing the resolution of the renderer

@lohr it does enable 1080p

upscaling is always worth it to fight compression.

another thing is that if I put the effort into recording an hour long movie I want everything to be as good as possible. there were a few things in the Ghost In The Shell 3dmm I fixed up such as spelling errors etc. (for example "WIRTTEN BY" in the opening sequence)
We live in the year 2012, and when working with making it "1080p" I make sure that the quality is the best as it can get for a 3dmm movie

probably because everyone thinks that 1080p is the maximum you can get on youtube, so they don't bother rendering something in a higher resolution

also what I forgot to mention is that this whole "watch 3dmm movies in 1080p" is sort of a "marketing" thing. I'm probably the first one to actually do this and if people see movies on YouTube being called "HD 1080p" and all, they get noticed more likely. even here there are probably lots of people who haven't seen the ghost in the shell 3dm and posting a YouTube mirror of a movie is always appreciated anyway

I don't get what's so wrong about this, I do a mirror of a very long 3dmm movie in a very high resolution to fight against compression. the "1080p" would also draw more people to my mirror of the movie

OH MY GOD I'M BREAKING SO MANY LAWS.
