Wow, he sounds so depressed. Clearly attempting to guilt-trip everyone.

The final take used in the movie was Take 3. We attempted a fourth but my timing was off and I missed my footing on the steps leading up to the bandstand. In a shot such as this, once the camera stops dead the shot is pretty much unusable. I realised, having given my all in the rehearsals (two of which were completed fully loaded with the camera) and three previous takes that I didn't have enough juice in the tank to complete a fifth. It felt like I had just performed a ten-hour gym session and, in hindsight, I consider myself lucky to have even completed three takes. Much has been publicised in print about how the Steadicam operator "collapsed" or even "fell over" which was claimed in some reports. All slightly melodramatic representations of what actually happened but I suppose that every movie needs its myth and legend.

That's partly why Children of Men is my favourite movie. There are a lot of really long single-shot scenes. The longest is over 7 and a half minutes. I think it makes you notice things in the background more as they come in and out of the shot and so is really good for things like that Atonement one. It makes stuff so rewatchable because you'll always see something new.

Oh, yeah Still, the transitions between shots is seamless. I had absolutely no idea until just now.

Also, the way things were filmed is pretty impressive. In the scene where they get ambushed in the car they had this special camera rig that allowed them to film all of the actors pretty close up without cuts. They were constantly ducking down and moving about just so the camera could get into a good place.

I'm very curious -- what was this?

Was it that John Woo movie shootout where they're going up the building?

Edit: oh wait, was it "Beach at Dunkirk", By Peter Robertson?

also this:

Recent Soil Association quotes... "GM is an outdated and niche technology that does nothing to feed the world and benefits only business." "GM crops do not appear to have delivered any yield advantages." Irrespective, the chemical companies endeavour to hoodwink us into becoming dependant on them - while putting the entire ecosystem in jeopardy. It's up to us to tell them where to stick it!

Groundwater is what percolates into the soil after rainfall and forms water tables. With rapid urbanisation, reduction in trees and the heavy concretisation of the city’s surface, what little rainfall the city witnesses is left to waste as much of the water flows through the drains. Rainwater harvesting is a great way to make sure our rain doesn't go to waste.

god she's such a fucking douche
