The highway part at the end was awesome, but that stupid hut on the hill was all steep and weird, and I finally freaking made it through only to FACEPLANT RIGHT BEFORE THE NEXT CHECKPOINT due to the steep hill and angled ramp, auuugh! I must have been stuck there for like 20 minutes.

But that's just me because I suck.

But good stuff.

Aight Dan, I played your track now CHECK MINE OUT. Ancestral Forest. CHECK IT GOOD. Bill and Trooper too.

I will, man. Going home for summer next week to play hours of Xbox without feeling guilty that I'm not reading about brains. What's your gamertag? Mine is PeterAustin, so add me. Not made any tracks yet because I only got a few hours of play time before I came back to uni.

can you be merciful and tell me what this is now, rather than me combing every microbyte of this thread?

Thanks man.

It's all done with area triggers that activate object position events tied to data curves (to make things slowly move constantly).

The rocks slide out and then get their physics enabled, and at the same time audio/light/particles are enabled.

Rising water specifically was actually tricky, since the water object's axis isn't at the icon center. So I had to use two dummy objects to act as the off/on position.

I read through some tutorials on their forums, they got a lot of really good videos on how to do really advanced stuff.

haha ash your track is cheeky, the scenery and general atmosphere is lovely, but the camera angles make it very challenging, and not in the fairest way either, i wish i had the attention span to faff around with triggers. i did try them but it wasn't working how i wanted so it was like FUCK THIS

Aw man I worked hard to make sure the camera angles were fair to the track. It's tough to gauge when you KNOW the layout, as opposed to those who don't.

I'll try and be less cinematic in future levels.

THUMBS UP

i remember first finding the camera change tool, and the fact you could put it directly behind the driver made it so cool but god DAMN does it make it ridiculous.

to be honest most of it was fine really, the bit at the start was a bit WHOah but nothing too dodgy, actually the only bit that seemed a bit off was the bit before you go inside and it suddenly does some fat camera turn while you're going at top speed
