Your video card blew up, or your monitor blew up. Do you see the "NO INPUT SIGNAL" message?

Cause then its most likely your video card. Switch to your onboard, unless you're using you're onboard, then your motherboard might be going.

Or maybe it is your cables.

Or maybe your monitor has internal issues.

Do you ever see any picture, like during boot up or POST?

If not, then it is a hardware issue. Otherwise it's most likely a Windows setting issue.

If you do see some display during boot, try pressing F8 to get to the boot options and choose VGA mode.

Otherwise trial and error replacement hardware.

Another monitor is usually the easiest to try first. Then try another video card, or install one and stop using your onboard.

BUT if it IS your onboard video, your motherboard is now a timebomb with a random number generated countdown.

This is an old thread. But I just wanted to point out: Vista SP2 did this to me. My monitor, mouse, and keyboard wouldn't respond. I just switched the slot my sound card was in, and got new drivers, and everything worked again.

So no, it isn't automatically monitor / video card, and its FUCKING STUPID because anyone that doesn't know how to check the parts inside their computer would just go out and buy new shit right away, or take it to a tech support place.

I like how Microsoft is OK with this... They made a list of stuff that would be broken with SP2. So everyone that didn't read all the stuff beyond the release notes will suddenly have a broken computer. Like we aren't at a point where they could simply run a hardware check, and warn you of what will happen do to the hardware you have.

I know you already solved this but I felt like posting this. You said you replaced your motherboard or something, but if you ARE on Vista SP2, you probably could have just switched a single part around and everything would have been fixed.
