anyone would be made fun of for a dumb statement like that. You can't 'read' people over a message board even if you think you can. You don't have enough information to truly capture their intentions. You don't know any of us personally. You can't read a person's body language. There's no inflection in text. You can't always be sure if you've offended someone or they don't care. What you perceive as someone's personal reaction is probably the most common reaction. I know how to take care of myself and if it's about to get this serious I don't wanna fight him and ending up with one of us dead or almost dead.
