60 Minute Song Creation Conest #15: 3DMM Covers - ENTRIES!

This week's theme is:

3DMM Covers
Theme chosen by Pizza The Hut

"They said it could never be done, they said it was fucking borderline madness but 3DMM's elite musical minds LAUGH in the face of the nay-sayers and take on the testicle-squeezingly complex arrangements that make up the 3DMM Soundtrack. Gasp in amazement as we entertain you with our unique renditions of what are undisputably classics of our times." - Scatterbrain

great turn out this week, looking forward to hearing these!

- multiple choice! vote for as many or as few as you like
- PLEASE leave feedback. All comments and criticism are, i'm sure, greatly appreciated by those who made the music and will keep these things going for a while yet
- enjoy!

Hahaha gotta be Burgon, that is fantastic. The second or two at the start of not knowing, and then the sudden 'realisation'. Funky and completely origional, yet immedietly recognisable.

Dan, that was... Interesting, to say the least. I couldn't quite tell what the original piece was, or if I ever heard it in the game. I'm curious, did you do all that yourself, or did you have help? Good job at voice manipulation if it was all you!

James, it scared me when I heard yours right after Dan's. I thought that we were supposed to do the whole thing with our voices. Kinda scary how you both had the same idea. Yours was softer than Dan's, and had a smoother effect. I have the same questions that I had with Dan, did you use your own voice?

Lizard, you made that sound almost exactly like it does in the game. It was more dramatic though, which gave it a more powerful effect, I think.

Moocow, yours was short, but came through really well. I thought everything worked out really well the way you put it together. A longer version would be cool to hear, if you saved or still have the project open (depending on what you used to make it with).

Scatterbrain, you only said that "anyone sampling McZee will be castrated" so you'd be the only one who used his voice, didn't you? Also, I liked the acoustic feel that came from yours. It also sounded kinda jazzy, even when the electric guitar came in. I actually thought that I was listening to a band playing those.

As for me, I realize now that I should have had my melody alter a bit and had the "Orion String" be a little louder. I probably should have also added a few more patterns to it. Ah, well.

Lastly I'd like to say that it was a job well done by everybody. I thouroughly enjoyed it. I await the end results of the poll.

My vote goes to Scatterbrain and Burgon. Actually, those were the only two that I could recognise. I think I recognised Schwill's. Dan's and Moocow's were completely unrecognisable for me.

No, for voice manipulation I was talking about the different pitches you got with just your voice. Being able to go up and down is what I mean.

For Lizard (and anyone else): Mine was based off of "insanity". All the other stuff I added was to make it seem more insane, or to drive the one listening to it insane. I also made it quite a bit longer.

Is there any way someone can post the links to the songs so I can hear em? My browsers fucked and this sounds interesting as a beast.

I guess that not too many people have heard the one that you did very much.

For Molotov:
In the future, you could simply look at the source code for URL's like I did here. These are their entries with their names by them.

Dominator Dan: http://chrislohr.net/uploader/files/81/Acalliopella.mp3

James Burgon: http://chrislohr.net/uploader/files/14/rockinz.mp3

Lizard: http://liambrocklehurst.com/uploader...eme%20Evil.mp3

Moocow: http://uboplus.com/hero%27s%20coming.wav

Scatterbrain: http://chrislohr.net/uploader/files/...aginopolis.mp3

Shwill: http://chrislohr.net/uploader/files/81/Insanity.mp3

Dominator Dan/James Burgon: These made me laugh, glad we got two acapella tracks this week. Simple but fun tracks. Both get my vote.
Lizard: This is pretty much note perfect, did you put the original MIDI through or something? Either way, loved the more sinister part towards the end. Sounded really epic compared to the original with those strings and the drum roll beforehand. Big shame you couldn't go any futher.
Moocow: Nice little track! All live again too. I don't remember that but I like it.
Scatterbrain: what a hunk!
Shwill: I'm going to be honest I couldn't recognise what you were covering to be honest. Had to go and FIND the track 'Insanity' as I don't even remember it even though I think I used it in my only successful 3dmovie so should do anyway, another great dance track. long and hypnotic!

Cheers. Nah, I did it all by ear. You can hear some bits aren't quite the same, but I tried my best.

haha, nah it's all me. Only thing is the meedly 'solo' (if you can call it that) sounds different cause i recorded it the next day. All of it except for that was recorded at night whilst everyone was asleep so that's why it sounds so soft and hrm .

It's all my voice, with added reverb.
Also Dan you're a SHIT cause i told you I was going to do an acapella version and you didn't say you were too . I'd have gone for something completely different .
