Sweden.

im thinking about studying a year abroad in Upsalla. my assumptions:

- lots of white people
- lots of sexy blondes
- lots of partying
- awesome 15th century buildings
- lots of snow

thoughts?

Uppsala is a nice town. It's like 1 hour away from here. We could hang out.

The only problem with Sweden is that everything is quite expensive (booze especially). A lot of tax apparently so that’s the only criticism I’ve heard about Sweden. Every day items will certainly cost a lot more than in America. Apart from that Sweden seems a pretty cool place.

Yeah, and you also can't buy liquor at regular stores, since the state has alcohol monopoly. But I don't drink anyway, so I think it's cool.

The taxes are pretty high, but college and university is free here, and you get student grant, so it's sweet and cool. Everyone is having a good time. Eh.

yeah, from what i've read about upsalla it's primarily a college town. so bars and shit are expensive, but there are plenty of huge parties funded by the university. so that works for me

i've also read a few accounts of kids going out there and living on a farm, and getting a free room and food in exchange for a few hours of work a day. anyone know anything about this?

so i don't know...it's something i'm definitely considering. but financially it might not make sense (although tuition will be about the same as what i'm paying now).

what's the job market like there? would it be pretty easy for me to get a job at a coffee shop or store for a little spending money? anything in the video field (i do video editing)?

thx for your responses. where do you live, Apfigur?

sorry missed this. i have no idea about that "free room and food for work"-stuff.

you could probably get a job at some coffee shop, even though they probably want you to speak some swedish. don't think there's much in video editing.

i live in stockholm.
