Here is the official plan for The Big Movie 2:

It will coincide with the film fest in a way similar to the hiatus movies, giving everyone something to do in between waiting for the next movie. We will set up two new forums: One for the film fest movies, and one for The Big Movie 2. A new subforum will be added to The Big Movie 2 forum each day, and a new gag will be introduced in a thread in that forum.

Unlike last time, when we did all of these in just one thread, each gag will actually have its own forum, and you'll create a whole new thread for whatever entry you're releasing. This will make it easier for people to keep track of new BM2 content and reply directly to your work, whereas a single thread (or even single forum) made it easy for entries to get lost amongst the replies.

To clarify something real quick: The new thread you make for your entry won't be a Movie Thread, just a regular thread, to avoid cluttering up the database with hundreds of tiny BM2 gags.

This layout will give The Big Movie 2 there important jobs:

to reinforce/pad out the release schedule (which, as always, is smaller than anticipated).
to get 3dmmers involved and constantly active during the filmfest, which will keep them around for the movie releases, and in so doing,
increase the visibility of 3dmm activity, so that some who've been less active in 3dmm but maintain a passing interest will notice all this activity and keep a closer watch on what's coming out.

I've always thought that one of the biggest causes of apathy with this program is the perception that no one else cares either. If enough people are excited and active at the same time, it can fuel interest and create kind of a snowball effect. Everyone who's excited about BM2 will be 3dmming and more likely to watch movie releases; people who check out the movie releases may take a look at BM2 and decide to join in. It's worth trying, at any rate.

Preliminary rules for BM2 entries (subject to change):

The Big Movie 2 will feature brand-new gags. This doesn't mean all of the old gags have been reset, but as this is a new compilation, the only entries that will qualify are BM2 gags. You can incorporate BM1 gags into BM2 gags, but please don't make new BM1 gags (at least for a while).

It might be helpful to think of it this way: We're still in the universe from The Big Movie 1, but all of the characters that populate it have calmed down considerably. They're cameos in this new movie about these new characters. If you want to combine [BM2 Gag #1] with Charlie or Knight, feel free to do so, but as a general rule, remember that we're in new territory.

While there will be a new gag every day, you can continue to make entries for previous days.

Some entries will have to be called in advance, similar to how Alphabet worked. One of them will have to be done in consecutive order, with the next person waiting until the previous person has finished.

Several BM2 gags require some v3dmm (one of them requires it extensively). The proper textures and sound effects will be provided in the introductory thread in these cases, to make things much smoother.

There's one gag that requires complex entries that may take a day or two to finish. Bear that in mind before starting yours.

Other thoughts:

I may decide to let someone else compile the final movie this time. Once we're getting close to finishing up, if you have a good idea of how to make a relatively coherent movie with some connectivity between entries and overall pacing, let me know.

I probably won't be doing a finale, unless I have a really good idea and some time on my hands.

Oh, and one last thing:

I think we're going to have a lot of fun with this one.

I'm still figuring out the last few. Feel free to make suggestions, although a lot of characters are already being used, so be open to the possibility that we may have to use a different actor for the same idea.
