And I'm pointing out that your reason is, unintentionally or not, pretty offensive. Cannabis Smokers aren't some breed of monster, who need cannabis to feel regular happiness.

It's this idea and what it suggests that I'm disagreeing with. You seem to have this image in your head of someone being really depressed and "turning to drugs", and have applied the image to everyone who uses any drug.

Also, said guy is lame. He definately isn't having "just as much fun!" holding the coats as the people on the rollercoaster. If holding coats was fun as going on the rides, all his mates would stand around with him and hold coats.

I don't see what is wrong with saying that I don't want to experience being high? That I would rather explore other options of excitement and entertainment. I see nothing wrong in my logic nor do I see anything wrong in yours.

I never said you were a monster. You are 'staw-man-ing" me more then I was you. Could you stop? Please stop.

Hahaha yeah also, don't take any of this personally. I guess I'm just saying now what I've bitten my lip about in other, real-world conversations. Might seem like I'm venting at you, not what I intended at all.

Oh. Ok. Cool. Thats the vibe I got from the text. Text needs to have tone and inflection indicators.

I am almost the same as Tom Breed (I've tried more than a sip though, obviously). I can easily see myself picking up drinking socially in the future though.

I don't take drugs, but if you want to then by all means go for it... as long its not extreme. That way I'm never called in for some kind of intervention hehe...

You can be forgiven for venting, given I've heard all the BS to, it induces the need to punch rather than bitting of one's lip lol!

I smoke weed a lot. I started cause it looked like fun, and I knew how people seem to . Simple humor can become the funniest thing in the world, etc. Now I keep doing it because I am kinda psychologically addicted... its just a lot of fun, and relaxing. I want to stop doing it so much because it holds me back from doing my schoolwork / other stuff too much, and makes me rather antisocial. But I keep smoking cause its just so relaxing and fun. And whatever, I can stop for months at a time and be perfectly fine, but I typically only do that when I'm forced to.

I started drinking cause someone gave me a beer and it just felt so warming and awesome. Then I realized it makes social interaction much more fun too (I typically find everyday conversation entirely dull, I hate it... but not when I'm drunk!) I'm not addicted to drinking at all though. I just drink cause everyone else is on the weekends etc.

Acid and mushrooms I did cause tripping seems like something that can be the best thing EVER, just complete wacky fun. For my first time, I just was crying for 2 hours straight because I was so happy. I have never had anything like that... After that, I haven't enjoyed tripping much, so I haven't been doing it at all.

...if I could go back, I'd want to do everything as I do it, but never try weed. Its just too much automatic fun for me to not do it every week, but I know that I shouldn't.

haha the best part is it was at my friend's college, he took us to a FRAT PARTY of all places. I filled up my cup and while walking upstairs it just hit me, and I sat down and put my cup down and was just staring at everyone the whole time, crying, hahah. I bet everyone else was confused.
At one point I tried to tell my friend why it was so great, and he said like "you just realize why everyone is doing what they're doing", and it was exactly what I was trying to say and I was so happy.

using this as an opportunity to talk to all you straight-edge kids who have never considered even touching a mind-altering substance. if you can, i strongly urge you to go your whole life without drinking, or doing any drugs like heroin that simply "make you feel good".

why? for exactly that reason. they make you feel too damn good. and if you're not even curious as to what it's like to experience them, just don't. i was curious: i've done heroin, smoked crack, done coke, all that shit, and although i've never been even close to addicted to anything, or seen my life deteriorate around me, trust me: YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW HOW AWESOME LIFE CAN BE. just stay ignorant in that regard.

BUT, i need to tell you all right now, at some point in your life, you will be doing yourself a favor to try PSYCHADELIC SUBSTANCES. since your virgin mind probably doesn't get the difference, let me explain: psychadelics, like LSD and mushrooms, give you a different perspective on life. they just temporarily skew your consciousness enough that you will attain a new level of objectivity that simply isn't possibly if you remain in your default mind-state your whole life.

think about it like this. your sober mind looks at a three-dimensional object from a single angle. you take the drug, and you see the object rotated 15 degrees clockwise. when the drug wears off, you're back to looking at the object from the straight-on angle, but you now have a greater sense of it's depth and shape. that's what acid and shrooms do to your view of reality.

LSD seems like it would probably be the best drug to try if anything really.

So your life is more "awesome" than mine? I'm more ignorant/subjective than you? There are some things you can get on your high horse about, and drugs aren't one of them, so just... stop.

I think he was saying that maybe those who haven't done drugs shouldn't see how fun drugs can make life seem while you are high. I kind of agree... if you haven't done drugs, it might be good not to, so you don't feel that, and therefore when not high are never thinking "this would be even BETTER STONED!!!"

Psychadelics are actually the only drugs I'd be remotely interested in trying. I've been thinking for a while of just asking around the people that have a reputation of being stoners.

yeah.

and like, opiates in particular, they give you this outlook on life that just makes you think "everything will be okay. i have my whole life ahead of me. i can't wait to see where it brings me and what kind of amazing experiences i will have."

but then when you're off of them, that outlook goes away, and you go back to being unsure about your future and the choices you have made and will make.

to this day, it still frustrates me that i can't have that great outlook on life no matter how hard i try.

Entheogens get my approval.

Fuck alcohol.
(And for the most part "physically dependent" substances)

I'm with Breed all the wayyyyyy, I've tasted sips of several kinds of alcohol but hated them all; one time, about 16, I had one full Rolling Rock and didn't get anywhere near drunk and was just like "fuck this, if I need to taste all this shit while sober to become drunk it's not worth it", so I never drank again after that (lol that's not the only reason though).

Stop being an elitist asshole, Miles. Taking drugs doesn't make you a better person, more right, more knowledged or more awesome than people who decide not to.

Though you personally may have had some insights, inspiration and experiences using drugs and decide that your mentality in a feeling of sobriety doesn't match up, that's doesn't mean that your elevated sense of well-being, even for a short time, is/was greater than what anyone else has normally.

Miles is wrong in saying his life is better just because he takes drugs, but at the same time Farlow is dead wrong in saying his "sunny dispotition = as much fun as an opiate".

People wouldn't do drugs ever if it was actually possible to re-create the effects by being jolly a lot of the time. That's retarded.
