Jim Raynor's Big Movie
Aaron Haynes's Avatar
Plot Summary:
In the interest of full disclosure, here are Jim Raynor's submissions to The Big Movie.

I wrote something mean about Jim Raynor's submissions to The Big Movie in The Big Movie - Extras. It was intended to be a hidden text box, but I apparently underestimated how many people would have the font it was written in (DellaRobbia BT), and as a result, most people saw it appear on the last frame.

As a result of that and Jim's subsequent ratings for the two releases I feel obligated to share the entries I cut from both movies, both in the interest of fairness and because of a simple fact you may not know about me.

Sometimes, I am not nice.

Here are the submissions that Jim Raynor apparently felt The Big Movie was sorely missing.

I've fixed the sound bugs in it (I may be kind of an asshole to compile this and release it in this manner, but I'm gonna present them exactly as they were sent in) and the link should work again in about 2 minutes.

Hmm, this wasn't AS bad as I was expecting, but it was still pretty poor. The Ron Paul battle was definitely the worst out of the lot. Hey, at least he contributed in some way though, and really, that's what matters.

That was weird and crazy, it wasn't bad like I was expecting it to be, more like Jim Raynor's got some alien sense of humor that nobody else gets. I'm glad you released this Aaron, whether for meanness or not, I was really curious to see them and why they were excluded. He actually seems to have put a lot of work into them, only the humor is... broken or something.

Well it's not so much that his contributions were generally shitty, but the fact that he was so grumpy about them not being included that he voted The Big Movie and its extras very low in childish retaliation.

For me it was more like they weren't songs, but maybe they had a few notes that were in the same key. He obviously just found out what the premises were, opened 3DMM, put the characters into a scene and started the first thing that came to him. Then added other jokes in the background and stretched things out for another 80 frames for whatever other idea came to him. Then had something fall on someone, sat back in satisfaction, and called it finished.

There was no effort to construct anything resembling a punchline, they're mostly just half-assed ideas stacked on top of each other. Only his "K" entry works as a single premise, and it's horrendously uncomfortable and pointless.

For everyone else's sub-par entries (or ones that didn't fit), I felt like they worked in the Extras movie because there was a clear goal and attempt to create a joke, but for Jim's I couldn't find either. There's something almost aggressive about them.

Exactly. It takes a tremendously shitty attitude to rate down the whole project because your entries weren't included (even if I did make a point of rejecting them). Jim is the kind of person who wants in on a community project regardless of whether he has the talent to contribute to it, produces work that's at odds with everyone else's, and throws a hissy fit when you exclude him. I probably should have just banned him from contributing from the start.

Okay, maybe we should have given him the benefit of the doubt, but made it clearer that his entries were terrible and he'd have to try harder to be included. Hell, I almost threw out "L", but kept it in so he'd be in there in some form.

hahaha... I think if Raynor just stuck with one idea, he could have come up with something. He kind of suffered from what Fingers did too... too much with no real punchline or point.

I liked the black cops thing. The rest was a little overly random and dumb

The only part of any of these I actually laughed at was actually kind of a stroke of genius, when Bino says to the Claudia actor, "Hey, take a look at this cool suit of armor" and Claudia turns to him and says in Jeff Ching's voice, "DON'T FUCKING TELL ME WHAT TO DO."

I laughed at Bino popping out from behind the sofa with the MGS exclamation point, but seeing Michael Richards go off on his "NIGGER, NIGGER!!" thing again put a bad taste in my mouth and ruined the skit. And I thought the concept of everyone using their gimmick to fight a common enemy was a good one, but the execution was so poor that I didn't know what the fuck was going on by the end of it.

I completely understand why you dropped these. He didn't follow the rules on some of them. The timing and sounds used were wrong in his Totem Boo and Frank Makes People. The L didn't turn into something beginning with L, but rather into a gun used by a white guy to shoot a row of black Charlies. What's with Raynor and black people?

And the Moments Earlier was so random and unfunny that I actually said "What the fuck?" out loud. I'm with Compcat. I just don't get his sense of humor.

I give this an 8%.
