The Big Movie - Extras
Aaron Haynes's Avatar
Plot Summary:
Deleted Scenes from The Big Movie, compiled with footnotes and a few bonus clips.

There are any number of reasons your clip may have been cut from The Big Movie, but the overwhelming factor was pacing. Trying to get 12 different styles of gags working together in a coherent and fluid way is a huge pain in the ass, and I tried about four different versions of The Big Movie to fit as many as possible without it getting downright interminable. I think the one that got released is about the best I could have done, and for whatever reason, a number of entries didn't fit with that layout.

This is by no means a "shit movie showcase" or an attempt to deride these entries -- I excluded only a few from it on account of them being aggressively bad -- but I put this together to make sure everyone who contributed to this community effort had their work presented in some form. Sure, several of these were cut for quality, but more often than not, it just wasn't a good fit for the layout of the movie. Many of them are good and nearly all of them enjoyable in some way, so give it a watch.

Enjoy, and thanks for contributing!

I quite liked a lot of these, but I can see how they didn't fit into the main movie. And where was my At Rest haha nah I know it was pretty bad

Anything that went into the At Rest movie was considered "already seen" and so didn't go in here. I re-used a few of the ones from that movie in The Big Movie for continuity/progression.

lol @ Raynor comment. I thought some of these should have been included in the "official" Big Movie... but yeah, some of them were just not-so-good.

hahaha I liked this simply because some stuff in here was just plain confusing and I think you made the right choices on what to cut. Also, hahaha @ message to Jim Raynor at the end.

About half of them were cut before compiling and half I just didn't get in before the movie had taken shape and was clearly ready to end. I could see a version with a few others worked in, but I thought 38 minutes was stretching things to the breaking point already.

I'm surprised someone found that already.

I really did try to fit them in, but they made the rest of the movie nearly unwatchable.

Found it? It was like right there at the end, was it meant to be hidden?

Considering you have to select the word box and scroll to the bottom of it for it to be visible, yeah, I'd say it's hidden. I would never have seen that had no one else pointed it out. Unless you have a different version/font issue or something?

I dunno maybe, I think half a sentence might have been showing at the bottom so I scrolled down.

You made the right decisions here, as 95% of them were terrible.

Thanks. I thought only about 20% of them were terrible, but certainly over half of them weren't funny enough or didn't move fast enough.

Some of them dragged, the joke wasn't funny enough for the length, or the punchline was ruined by the animation being too slow or too many still frames.

Speed in this case is relative to the idea and execution.

I knew my second Knight would be cut when watching the final movie because as you said in the Extras, it would be out of place. When I submitted it I was working on the basis on Knight being its own thing.

And yes many of those were confusing lol!

In a lot of cases I think it was just luck of the draw. It was probably hard for people to tell where I was going with this when were just doing entries in the thread, so when something didn't fit, it was almost never the director's fault. That's why I wanted to have an Extras movie that was worth watching, so these didn't just disappear like the Hiatus movies did.

The first thing I told Tom Breed when we started this: "No Jim Raynor." I relented when we made the thread, because there was no way to publicly get people in on it and tactfully exclude him. His entries were horrible, and so of course I didn't include them. So he gets pissy and down-rates both threads. I saw this coming from day 1.

I definitely see what you mean there.
I could have made my TotemBoo much more snappier and better.
The main thing i wanted to implement was the running along a cliff and making totem poles appear as a bridge as he goes thing.

The moments earlier was purposefully a bit lame... "Oh look a sandwich"

I liked just about all the other entries I must say.
Some fo the Frank makes people ones made me laugh.

Don't have time to watch the Big Movie for a couple of days now, the wait will be worth it i reckon!

The Moments Earlier sandwich thing would've been great if the payoff was literally like 20 frames long.

*plate*

*moments earlier*

"OH LOOK A SANDWICH ARFGHNOMNOMNOM BELCH" *end*

Thanks for submitting, though, it's always great to see new people getting involved in stuff like this.

I thought that it would have worked if it was all

*plate... BUT WITH CRUMS ON IT*

*moments earlier*

*plate with sandwich on it*

*the end*

BUT YOU KNOW, yeah, there should be another fun little joke movie that involves a bunch of people again soon.
