2005, Movie, Comedy, Directed by Jaymond
Jon Sprow returns to 3dmm.com, but has trouble finding his place in the community.

This review contains some spoilers.

Following the film Skitzophrenia, which did exceedingly well in the Box Office, many people have been hoping for another Jaymond movie which not only shows how awesome his voice-acting is, but also one which can provide full of laughs. Now, after only a few days in production, it has been released in the form of A 3DMM House Party. Surprisingly one of the hits of the 2005 Summer Film Festival so far, at first glance, you probably wouldn't expect this to shine. With default scenery throughout, very simplicistic and basic animation, and hardly any use of 3D letters, it is hard to imagine how this can be very popularly received, but as many, many people have said in the past, who gives a damn about animations and scenery in comedies, as long as the jokes and humour are there? And this is no different, as here, the film delivers in comedy.

As the name suggests, many 3DMMers have been invited for a little house party, which is held in Space Goat's humble abode, and throughout the whole movie, Jaymond picks on many, many people, from the slow, irritable, and unintelligent Jatz to the short-tempered veteran Andres. Each unique character is portrayed to their respective online persona fairly accurately, to some extent, although sometimes accuracy gives way to humour, which is not always a bad thing at all. One of the more obvious examples of this would be Tom Bown and Ben "SPRICE", one of my highlights of the movie. Their characters may not fully reflect what they are really like, but Jaymond has tweaked them a little to make them even more funny, and it pays off. Other favourites of mine include the seemingly always wise and mature Kayl, and, of course, the star, Jon Sprow. Other notable appearances include the Travis-Bot and the "veteran group".

I have a couple of small gripes with it though, but I guess this is just me being me. Firstly, I wasn't completely happy with Mike Storch's representation. It felt too un-Storch-like and I didn't find much of the jokes relating to him humorous because of this (however, the "Mike Storch Ramza Brave Gnomes Mike Storch" between Sprow and Kayl was great). And secondly, although I chuckled a fair number of times, I felt the film was still lacking something to make it that more memorable and that more special. I can't quite pin it down exactly, but the best way to describe it is that it doesn't feel as polished as I would have liked it to. Back to the more positive points though, and as usual, Jaymond's superb voice-acting was outstanding, but it was overshadowed a lot of the times by the comedy, which is no bad thing by any means. Aimed at a restricted audience, those familiar with the 3DMM.com community would do well to have a look at it. You're bound to find at least something, whether if it is Bown and "SPRICE"'s talk of 3DMM Hotel Episode #0 or if it is Jatz's dumbness which produces a huge, satisfied grin on your face. Just remember, that the purpose of A 3DMM House Party is to make you, the viewers, laugh, and not to make people admire the tiny, detailed technical things. Even V3DMM was used to comedy effect. With the lack of community movies out there right now, I'm sure the numerous, thirsty community fans will lap this one right up.
