Generations

This takes me back to KRB Revival. When I reviewed it, I didn't have a single clue what the Tom Bown, Doughboy and Ramza Brave argument was all about. But I wrote a pleasing review for KRB Revival, because it kept my attention and because it made me laugh quite a few times. Now comes Generations, which is quite a lot different despite its vaguely similar plot. But unfortunately, I wasn't quite as amused or entertained.

First of all, I'll get to the bit which I found completely unamused by. The you-know-what jokes (watch Generations to find out, I'm trying to keep this review spoiler-free). Seriously, how many of them did I see? And then, there was a whole army of them! My sense of humour seems to be completely different, but oh well. On the brighter side, the voice-acting was not too bad, with all characters voiced rather well. The voice of Doughboy (Jeff Ching) was quite amusing to start off with, but it slowly got annoying.

The movie does not do that badly in trying to form personalities to the 3DMM characters. In the ten or so minutes of watching, the characters of Tom Bown and Ramza Brave had something in them. Tom Bown acted more sensible while Ramza was the care-free guy. Credit goes to the writer for creating the characters fairly well. It was also interesting to see how they resolved their little argument, and that brought a smile to my face. Another thing which I can happily smile at and praise was the overall animations and sceneries. For a comedy, this was definitely above average, and I was pleasantly surprised.

But at the end of the day, Generations didn't keep my attention. Despite some good points, I just wasn't amused with the you-know-what jokes and the general 'funny' comments. Don't let this discourage you though. There is some good stuff in here, most notably how life is brought into a couple of animated characters and how well a comedy can be animated. The good and bad points kind of balance the movie out, and you have to see for yourself whether you enjoyed or hated Generations.
