Let's start off talking about why I downloaded and watched this in the first place. Is it because I loved Replay: Replayed? No. In fact, I haven't even seen it. Is it because I know all about the arguments between the leading characters? Nope. I hardly even know them. Or is it because I completely love the JDR series. Yes. I downloaded this movie because of the JDR Revival reference in the title.
OK, let's get this straight. A guy on 3dmm.com, who hasn't released any movies, who only has around ten posts, who people hardly know, decides to watch KBR: Revival without any knowledge of Replay: Replayed, Ramza Brave, Tom Bown and Doughboy. And the only reason why he downloaded it is because there was a JDR Revival reference? Surely he's going to be bored? Well, no. Quite the opposite. I load up the movie on 3DMM, not quite sure what to expect. Can you guess what caught my eye first? Yep. The title sequence taken from JDR Revival. That's where the laughter began. I was laughing out loud at the music from Sonic Adventure 2 (I believe) and at the way the characters are introduced. There is even someone getting hit by a safe! Why am I talking about the beginning sequence so much? It's because that was what made me laugh the most. Predictably. But the laughs weren't over. OK, they might not have been as funny to me, but I was still laughing out loud at certain points. Despite hardly knowing who Ramza Brave is, seeing his character walking into the BB and insulting everyone he saw made me laugh a lot. Other JDR Revival references which appeared later in the movie were hilarious too (yeah yeah, I know I'm biased). Remember the FF:UE car chase in the final battle of JDR Revival? Yep, that's in this one too, to some extent. That reminds me, I have to see FF:UE sometime. And it wasn't just the JDR Revival stuff which made me laugh. There were small bits too, such as the merry-go-round, and the robotic voices, and so on. I could go on for a long time. Yes, you are reading my review right. Someone who hasn't seen Replay: Replayed, and someone who only has a vague clue who Ramza Brave, Tom Bown and Doughboy are, found this movie hilarious and entertaining. If I enjoyed it, surely you lot, who have seen Replay: Replayed and who know the characters, will like it even better. That's the only major fault I can find. There were just some bits I didn't quite get. But this factor was out of the director's hands. I'm sure that I would be entertained throughout the whole movie if I did some research. Now that I'm done here, I really should check out the other Film Festival movies... Score: 81/100 |
