3DMM Evil Episode 05
by Zaps
Go to movie
2005, Movie, Comedy, Directed by Klaymen
The fifth episode of 3DMM Evil; Certainly a step backwards, in my opinion. The only real reason to watch this episode is if you love the interviews and the beat humor of the show. There are a few skits and the interviews are somewhat humorous. Also, noteworthy, this episode features an all Les Claypool soundtrack. Guests: Justin Wawrzonek and Anders Borg.

There was always going to be the time when the trend breaks, and now it comes in Episode 5. From the start of the series, back to the first episode, each 3DMM Evil Episode has noticeably improved bit by bit, right up to the great Episode 4. Not many people will doubt that. But suddenly the series takes a large tumble, like on a rollercoaster, when you gradually reach the top before dramatically falling at such a high speed. It wasn't that the episode was bad, it's just after the fourth one, you kind of expect the following one to at least match it in terms of quality, but Episode 5 goes all the way back to Episode 2's standard. It felt rather empty compared to the previous two episodes, with only the interviews, as good as they usually are, saving number five from dropping below average.

Justin Wawrzonek, of Videogame Nightmare, Teh Epic and WTDA fame, and Anders Borg, most well-known for the upcoming Rayman movies, sit opposite Klaymen this time round. Wawrzonek talks about his past movies and upcoming projects, whereas Borg touches on Rayman a little. Both interviews, although they probably don't match up to Episode 4's quality, are worthwhile to listen to, with interesting and informative questions and answers. Apart from the interviews though, there was nothing else that made Episode 5 stand out. There was no side-story, and the two skits shown were dull to say the least. I couldn't find anything funny about them. But, as long as the interviews are just as good, I'm still going to be a fan of 3DMM Evil. They are the best bits of the series, and I hope that doesn't change. There just wasn't much else content apart from the interviews this time round, and I hope Episode 6, to be released in the 2005 Summer Film Festival, fixes this problem.
