Slightly Confused
Hey Mikey Pictures's Avatar
Go to movie
2003, Movie, Comedy, Directed by Orcus
As a first time bank robber screws up miserably at trying to keep his robbery quiet, an equally incompetent team of city cops take up the case using everything they have, from evangelical priests to special guest music stars, to try and bring him down.

Comedies are easliy my favorite genre in 3dmm, and possibly even as far as movies go in general. I have a kind of instant respect for any movie that can make me laugh. I mean, I have respect for all movies that do their job (for instance, I respect "The Ring" for turning me into a paranoid shadow of my former self), but comedies, to me at least, seem especially enjoyable when they really work. "Slightly Confused" has it's fair share of problems, but considering how often I laughed out loud watching it, it's easy for me to look over them in light of the bigger picture- this movie is damn funny!

The storyline is pretty simple (normally that's the way it is with comedies). A first time bank robber holds up a bank, while a group of extremely bad cops arrive at the scene and attempt to lure him out. The storyline is helped by some good voice acting all around, the problem is the quality of the voice recordings. Some voices are way too loud, while others are so low you can barely hear them. Likewise, some are at perfect volume but have too much static in the background. Hopefully Orcus buys a new mic before the sequel.

On the technical side, the movie is "okay". The handmade scenes are pretty simple. There aren't any incredible camera movements or panning effects, but really, the movie doesn't need them. Sounds are good enough, except for the problem I mentioned with the voices. Alright, enough of the technical crap, let's get to what made the movie good.

As I said before, this movie is really funny. The part I laughed at the most were the lines ripped from an Adam Sandler cd (I'VE GOT A SNAKE MAYN!), but a lot of Orcus' lines were good enough to make me laugh out loud also. Not all jokes completely hit the mark, but the ones that did easily made up for the ones that missed. For instance -- the part where Michael Jackson looks over at the kid and "Let's Get it On" starts playing was hilarious, funny enough to make up for the way-too-obvious "Get away from me, you're not a priest!" joke.

I don't want to give away too many of the jokes, as they're the best part of the movie, so I'll just wrap this up quickly. Rest assured, if you download it, you will laugh. The parts shown in Jeff Ching's "Remember 2003" were probably my favorites.

There's not much else I can say really. This movie does it's job of making you laugh. It has a few technical problems (crappy voice quality, simplistic animation), but what it boils down to is if you find it funny, the other problems are easy to overlook. Personally, I think most people will find this movie very funny. If you want something that will make you laugh, it's definitely worth the download. I give it a 85% our of 100%.
