One genre that has been grossly overlooked in 3dmm is the "spoof". They have been attempted a few other times, but they tend to turn into a mean-spirited hate movie about half way through, though occasionally this can work when the director deserves it (see "Ninja Guy Dan"). Replay: Replayed is one of the only movies in this almost empty genre, and it's hilarious stuff.
The movie is basically "Replay" with most of the lines and a lot of the animations changed (though some left there from the original and ripped on horribly). The voice acting is great, and I especially loved the fact that they made fun of the terrible mic quality of the guy playing the surgeon through the re-done voices. The humour is excellent and managed to hit on everything you could think of that could be spoofed in the original movie. Some of this stuff is just brilliant. One of my favorite jokes is during the car chase, when the one car was on top of the other one doing a motion that made it look like it was humping it. Adding the porno music was hilarious, it seriously cracked me up. The big "NO!" that appears on the screen as soon as the third ending starts was great also. The movie has some problems though- not every joke completely hit the mark, and a few I just didn't understand (maybe I don't visit off-topic enough, but what's this joke about Ramza's son?). Also, exaggerated internet lingo is used way too much. "T3H KILLAR!", "OMG STOP T3H MOVIE!", "YOU ARE T3H LOSAR! OMGWTFLOLZ!", it was funny the first time, but you have to limit it a little. Humour like that is best in small doses. Still, some problems or not, this is a great movie for a highly overlooked genre. It still didn't make me laugh as much as "Ninja Guy Dan" (which I still can't watch without risking falling out of my computer chair laughing and bashing my head on something), but regardless, this is good stuff. Definitely worth a download if you've seen the original, even if you happen to have directed the original. It's all in good fun. I give it a 75% out of 100%. |
