The Gate (Part 1)
Plot Summary:
After a remote space station detects an anomalous object heading towards Earth at unfathomable speed, mankind is quickly thrust into a tense confrontation against an unknown enemy.

I've finished this movie in September 30th of 1997. It began production about two weeks before my school started an endless, painful, pointless, tortuously evil year of school. I had two weeks of nothing planned before school, so I began to work furiously at this movie. Then, I managed to create a movie trailer, and a movie poster, and place this movie up onto those 3-D Movie Maker websites!

Where are the credits, you ask? They will be included with the second, and more exciting part of The Gate. This one was less exciting since I had to introduce the charactors and tell the main story.

Anyway, I'd like to thank the composers for their incredible music. Look at the text files included with this "zipped" (meaning compressed package) of the gate!

A lot of 3D Movie Maker veterans will find this a very nostalgic viewing. Sean Bires' The Gate was a great achievement at the time (1997), pushing the new trend of custom 3D scenery to places it had never been yet. It also pioneered the blue fading in/out font technique, which has been used by many other directors to this day. However, what I have always remembered most about this film, is its extremely effective use of film music to generate a great deal of suspense. Until this film, midi files were the norm, and nobody had yet achieved as effective a mood as Sean did in this now 10 year old classic.

Sadly, part two was released as a corrupted zip file, and is currently considered to be lost. To this day, it is unknown if anyone has ever seen it.

I'd like to go through and review several first-generation 3DMM movies, especially the more obscure ones, in the near future, and this certainly qualifies from the sound of it. Will check it out soon.

This movie blew me away the first time I saw it. I was even making a remake at one point either for release or for my own personal enjoyment, that I just kinda gave up on.
