So I'd say you don't work in order, but I could be wrong. Beyond nuances like that, I'm stumped to find any inconsistancies. Either you are not including a lot of scenes you started years ago (Which I know of a few that are missing), or you've retraced them all to make it one big, seamless style. Very impressive, I can not boast the same for myself!

Yeah, I ended up going back a lot and updating some of the scenes. Most of the Mario and Toad scene was created pre-V3DMM, and were altered after I made the switch (mostly just replacing a handmade Mario head with the single object).

Also, thanks a ton, Goro, for all the comments. I'm very glad you enjoyed what you saw.

Just finished watching. There wasn't really all that much for the time spent on it! I was kinda dissapointed!

The Merlitar side scrolling game was awesome, the 8 bit mario scene was pretty cool.

The city was amazing, the reflection looked great.

The best thing about this was just the 'style'. The sort of half crossed cartoon with 3mm and new colours. Was interesting to see.

But yeah, I dunno, there's not that much to comment on as there isn't really all that much actual 'movie'.

What was there was great, but I just wish there was more, or it was in some sort of watchable format.

Actually, my other favourite bit, was Merlitar getting hit on the roof. That looked fantastic.

This pretty much sums it up. I liked the style but damn did it take a long time for such a small amount of movie.

Comments per vmm

#1: It's been said before, and it'll be said many times after, but that's because it's fucking true. HMC, you have easily the best grasp of colour and lighting in the community. From the light blues of the snowy mountains to the orange glow of the sun shining off the helicopter, to the sense of depth on the more distant mountains, everything looks perfectly integrated into the style of the movie, and while distant from almost anything in Nintendo's Mario universe, remains perfectly recognisable, so that when Angry Sun pops up, he doesn't seem out of place, even when 500 points appear when he destroys the helicopter. Some very innovative use of graphical tricks and effects as well, from the motion blur of the helicopter's propellor, to the see-through reflection in the window, to tiny touches such as the shine on Shyguy's telescope in scene 14

#2: I HIGHLY DOUBT YOU CAN READ THIS SMALL TEXT, BUT IF BY SOME CHANCE YOU ACTUALLY ARE, THEN YOU ARE A FAGGOT. HAHA. WAY TO GO FAGGOT. MAN, THIS IS GAY.
MAN, HOW DOES THE MUSHROOM PRESS MANAGE TO PRINT IN SUCH A SMALL SIZE? IT'S GONNA BLIND A BUNCH OF PEOPLE, THAT MY FRIEND, DOES NOT ENSURE SUCCESS. I WOULD LIKE TO NOTE THAT THIS IS ANNOYING, JUST MAKING TEXT FOR THIS STUPID THING NO ONE WILL READ. BUT YOU'RE READING IT. . . . 0_o
Y'KNOW WHAT? FUCK THIS. I'M JUST GONNA PASTE THE SAME TEXT OVER AND OVER. YOU CAN STOP READING NOW

#3: Heheh. My first thought was "Goddammit, EVERYONE uses that 7th Guest music," but I gave it my full approval when it turned into a DD homage I like how you turned Mario's "Skid" frame into a Wall jump too.

#4: Remember everything I said about light and colour in #1? That applies here too. I'll multiply it here though for the sheer attention to detail and general awesomeness, and just for the little touches like making the lamp posts ? blocks, and the copy of Mario Is Missing in the window. AND THE FUCKING REFLECTION GODDAMN YOU THAT IS AMAZING <3

#5: and THIS is where HMC's storytelling side comes in. The awesome scenery and colours still stand, but now they're actually in the context of a narrative that actually plays out long enough for the viewer to get engaged.
It's saying a lot that It works without sound or music, and I never actually found myself skipping scenes. Merlitar
And OH GOD SCENE 106. Never ever EVER have I seen such perfect still frame in 3dmm. And the shot of Merlitar at the window, the shadows of the blind on his face. Excellent. The Night time shots were brilliant too, and....fuck it. I'm gushing.

#6: Heheheh. I like Mario's disguise Nice Koopa Troopa too.

#7: Goddammit. What IS that music. It's awesome. And I'm a sucker for 2D Sprite animation so I'm going to like this by default.

Thanks, Pogo. BTW, that music is from Lyle in Cube Sector, IIRC.

First, it was Rayman: Level 1 that got nuked, now it's Mario Saga 2. Shall Ninja Gaiden 2 surely be next? All the community has to look forward to now is the Omega Project (I guess I'm a "bastard" anyway I put it ) and the longest PAM in the history of 3DMM.

Now, to the movie itself. There was beautiful work going on here. I've always known you to be good at this kind of stuff. You're really good at this artistry sort of thing. I, for one, could never be bothered to use custom gradients and other scene pallets, nor attempt to figure out how to use them. However, you sure put them to fine use here.

Despite your abilities as an artist, however, it's like you said: "It simply wasn't in me to string all my crazy ambitions into a coherent storyline...." I guess you can make fine pictures and animations, but as far as plots go, forget about it.

You know, for some whack reason, this reminded me a lot of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario, and I'm not talking about those 2D scenes you threw in.

You convincing bastard, HMC! I actually thought that water reflection took some effort to make! I see what you did there. Pretty good, regardless.

He probably had to put effort into the expansion, anyway.

The reflection part was actually pretty easy. I just extruded the model and then flipped it. I then edited an existing water texture in Photoshop and put it in the middle.

I figured you flipped the model to do that. What I meant was the rest of it.

Ah, victim of the "unfinished" parasite that patiently waits inside every epic 3dmm movie, feeding off the good vibes and amazing animation advances, until it drains all life and feeling out of the host making it. Tis a shame. A very common occurance that plagues this accursed program. I would watch this, but I'd have to redownload 3dmm and v3dmm, and last time neither were working, which is why I deleted them. I will watch, though. Mark my words, it will be veiwed.

Reviewed. I had reservations about it the first time I watched, but didn't realize just how many.

Jaw-droppingly beautiful with some great individual moments, though.
