Is this just for hotels or is it for home use as well?

I remember seeing this in production a while back, it looks great.
Seems pretty pointless, but I wouldn't say no to having one.

At first I was like, "So it's a touch screen table. Old" But then the whole drink/phone surface interacting with physical objects thing made me like WWOOAAH.

I'm quite confused as to how it knows what phone it is. That's awesome.
The drinks thing is a novelty, but I guess anything like that is cool to have...

I wanna know what else it does.

I'm scared. This thing feels really loose. Like I didn't see one confirmation box for all those orders and purchases, and something about just screams unsafe (when dealing with money).

But it's a genius piece of technology none-the-less, and I dream of the fun games that could be created for it. An RTS like StarCraft on this would rule balls. I think I saw something like that before though...

I doubt they'll create any games for this in a LONG time, maybe if they brought out some sort of light version for homes.

As for the data protection, I guess he was just buying stuff that wasn't there, but I would like to see some more confirmation on money related stuff..

Incredible for commercial settings, to be sure. Don't think it'll ever see much consumer success, but for hotels and restaurants this technology is going to be amazing.

Just gotta watch out for that BSoD.

Consumer market will boom when its cheap, and there's dev tools for it, so you can program your own dotplate things. Apparently for the commercial market it's like $8,000 - $10,000. Consumer estimated price (in like 3 years) is $3,000.

Edit: Apparently I pulled these numbers out of my ass as I can no longer find where I saw them...

So? Credit card fraud is already easy online. There's no security difference between someone stealing a card and using it for online purchases and someone stealing the card and buying stuff on Microsoft Table. And the credit card company would still send you a report of your spending which you can check for fraudulent purchases, so I can't see this being too much of a security threat.

I wasn't talking about fraud, Mr. Scientist. Let's put it this way. While buying things online, you can't rack up a thousand dollars by flicking your finger a dozen times. It feels like a step is missing. Maybe a, "Your total is: $$$: Confirm purchase?" I mean, it just seems a lot easier to accidently buy something.

A step probably feels like it is missing because this is an edited promotional video designed to make you go "Oooh" and "Ahhh", not bore you with menial credit card confirmation procedures.
