Vlarion 4 - The Heavens Crumble
Aaron Haynes's Avatar
Plot Summary:
With all loose ends tied up planetside, the group turns to face its last obstacle. As the dark corners in the history behind the Vlarion legend are illuminated, humanity's fate hinges on the awakening of its long-dormant mysteries, and on the ways Dask and his friends will handle the truths unfolding before them.

What was supposed to basically be "the final battles" and last only 20-25 minutes ended up being a full movie in its own right. The last big revelation still feels kind of like it came out of left field to me, but I was trying to prepare for it in advance with hints in Vlarion 1 and 3. The idea of ancient texts and historians misreading a legend interested me, so I tried to work it in in various ways. Even so, a lot of the Aftcitine/Tyewrin/Mirager/Dask stuff still doesn't make a lot of sense until you bring your own interpretation to it. I've since revised these elements of the story, and they provide the backbone for what's Really Going On in the Alternate storyline. Hopefully you'll get to see it someday.

This was, I thought at the time, my last chance to go nuts experimenting with visual effects and setpieces in this universe, so I did. I'm still within the framework of a 2000-era 3dmm director/RPG fan, though, so there are weird anachronisms like scenery made out of ambulances, and superfluous boss fights with creatures made out of police cars, but at its best I think I did pretty well capturing that epic feel, whatever it is. I remember being really excited over the course of this series, because I'd never felt like any story I'd tried to write evolved as naturally as this one did.

I thought 4 was the best of the original series. It had the most stuff to it, and gave me the best sense of the fact that this was its own, completely original (well, sorta) world.
That was probably the most ineloquant way of putting it, but 4 was my favorite for awhile.

I thought the boss made of police cars was kind of humorous.
EDIT: Oh, yeah. The filesize is 1.44MB, not 1.7.

Any possibility of a wmv of this? I want to watch it again, but vista fucks midis up, and that kind of ruins the movie.
