The next movie will be posted around the same time tomorrow, and so on, and so on. Enjoy.

That was interesting. Darth seems to be pretty competent with scene construction and such. The pacing throughout the whole movie seemed really slow, though, and I didn't really understand the whole point of the movie. Some people are shot and everyone is saddened? Where was the unexpected resolution? Or am I just dumb?

Some of the scenes didn't work for me (nothing to do with the movie, I assure you. My 3dmm has been fucked these last few days), but I really liked the scenery. What I saw of the movie was great.

That was a unique watch, and quite interesting. The sounds conflicted at times, and a few of the voice files were very low quality, but otherwise great in the audio department... the music was especially good. Visually, it was sufficient but uneven. Some of the choices of textures were a bit odd, I thought, and the direction was good but not great. I guess overall it shows that you're still getting the "hang" of 3dmm: still learning the ins and outs of what works and feels best, but already producing some good results and showing real potential. I especially liked the concept of the news channel format. After a few minutes I felt like I was really watching TV. Great work there.

Writer's bit. I was a bit set off by the point of the story. What did the townsfolk come to conclude about the safety of their town? What did they specifically do to increase their security and prevent future atrocities? It would perhaps seem to be the main point of the movie, judging by the title.

Your scenery was well thought out and detailed. Nicely done at times as well. But literally everything else about the movie showed effort but much room for growth. Examining more movies, pinpointing exactly what makes a movie 'great' or even just 'interesting,' and simply practice and time will do you wonders.

To be exact, your movie was very very slow. Not to be rude, but the news broadcast felt like a news broadcast. It was just plain too slow to be interesting. And repeating the same three stories the whole time, especially over the ticker (a nice touch, yes!) was the same thing. The voices sometimes were low quality and there were noticable flubs in the lines, those should always be found and fixed

I think the problem with the plot was that it was too realistic, EXCEPT for the conclusion. Bad things happened, people died, the bad guys got away. BUT THEN people get together and crime suddenly drops 91%!!! The unrealistic percentage (that was never explained in any way) took away any possible resolve the movie may have had, any possible reason for the movie to exist. I think that with faster pacing and a second half to the movie that would follow what this movie started to follow would make this movie much better.

You've got an acceptable start, I look forward to three, four movies down the line when you've hopefully begun blowing our pants off with some good dramas, y'dig?

And I don't care where you're from, the cars were on the wrong side and there were too many digits in the phone number and WHAT were you doing having the birthdate of the Michael that dies being the exact same one as MINE ;P

I like it, but then again, I am slightly biased by being in it.

However, I do agree on the newsbroad cast being overly long, it could have been more focused. The pacing of movies is always difficult, even hollywood screws that up regularly.

Answer to HMC's post:
I wasn't able to put everything that i wanted into the 10minute time slot (even know the movie did infact run for about 11mins including the credits), which meant i couldn't portray every aspect that was needed to fully explain the movie. The second part of the post is answerd, sorta, by Ned.

Answer to Ned's post:
I can explain the poor quality of some of the voices. When i was getting the voices in, the movies for the SFF were due in and i was really on the rush. Had i known that there would be another two weeks before the movies would be shown, i would have been able to fix things up more and i could have requested re-submits of the voices. However, the majority of the audio, say about 90+%, was upto par. Also with the textures, i was going to texture the entire city seen at the beginning, and also make nighttime textures, but because it was rushed, i couldn't. As for the explaination of the ending, regarding the reduced crime rates, once again due to the 10min time frame, i was unable to includer the entire explanation in the movie. An emergency election was held for the voting of a new Mayor, or to keep the old one. The vote happened to massively favour the new Mayor and with the new town leader came alot of new changes to the city. One significant change was the recruitment of hundreds of new police officers. Their duties were to patrol the city on a 24-hour basis. This was inplace for about a month until the policing of the city was then revised. The policeforce was then given more 'family-friendly' work hours.
With the TV style presentation, i was unfortunately not able to make a smaller version of the scrolling text, but i think it turned out well in the end.

Also regarding the title of the movie, it may not have been the ideal name for the movie, but the movie literally had no name until 2-3days before uploading it to Mike. So like some of the other aspects of the movie, the tile was also rushed.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I was on and off with the project a number of times, but eventually got it done. I had alot of fun making it, especially designing the scenes.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS AND I CAN'T BE BOTHERED WITH THE TAGS BTW

I can say basically the same as everyone else.

The scenery was VERY nice, you really seem to have a hang of the program, but everything else was shaky at best. The music choices weren't great (I started laughing when My Immortal came on) and the whole movie seemed really uneven. The drive-by was the main dramatic point of the film, but it was just *RATRATATATATATAT* "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" and seemed really silly. Then the news broadcast was WAY too long and most of the information was long versions of stuff we already know. It seems like you added the wrong stuff and left out the stuff you really needed (Like a satisfactory conclusion.)

Obviously I know what the movie is about - the aftermath of the shooting - but it would have worked better as a longer film with more characters to get inside, instead of just the shop owner.

Also, while there were some good voices, some of them were really bad (The newsreader and the doctor especially, newsreader was very hesitant and the quality on the doctor's voice was terrible.)

You have great talent, and in the future you'll easily make some great movies, but this ended up being almost too short for its own good. The wrong things were too long or too short, and it needs a LOT of fleshing out to make a decent drama.

It was very, very pretty though.

I'll give it 5.5/10.

About the cars on the 'wrong' side of the road. Well i actually hadn't realised that until almost releasing the movie. But then again, nowhere in the movie did it say where exactly in the world it was based in. Same thing goes for the phone number, but it was also supposed to be comical at the same time, not hysterics, but comical. With the day in which the movie was set being the same day as your birthday, well you will always have a little connection to this movie.

With Denny's 'suggestion' at a possible sequel to pollish any loose ends up, i may also do a no pressure, no deadline, touch up of this movie.

Once again, thanks for all of the feedback and i WILL take all of this in and use it to make my next movie bigger and better. Perhaps i need someone as an Assistant Director just for one movie, perhaps to teach me a few things and to point me in the right direction. Anyway, look out for my next project due about Christmas/New Years (not the Star Wars movie).

That was pretty damned good. Yeah the narrative was sketchy, but the scenery was impressive to a newbie like me. But I'm always impressed by scsnery, like, *always*. Anyway, was there a load of hidden Polygons I couldn't see that would explain the film being so extremely laggy on my PC in a few shots (Such as the car "desending" on the city).

But yeah, you're really going to put my crappy-ass film to shame.

I don't think Mike's link has fonts either. I didn't end up sending them to him.

Well if a mod can add Pogo's Mirror and my link to the fonts to the first post, that would be great. Thanks.
Click to download the fonts for the movie.

Without typing it all out, I pretty much agree with the general opinion: It looked pretty but didn't accomplish much, and ended up just not being entertaining.

The only thing that saved this for me was My Immortal. It was otherwise extremely boring. You need to work on stringing together bits of conversation without having big gaps between lines, and when a character stops talking, it always looks far better when their arms are returned to a more natural, resting position instead of just floating in the air after you've paused the talk action.

Not too bad. The music choice was decent (although compressed in a crappy format. I mean really, IMA ADPCM?), but the credits song was quite dumb. I would have prefered an extended version of "My Immortal", but that's my opinion The firing animation during the drive-by sequence could have been a bit more... animated. The voices weren't very good, quality-wise, although I did like Abdul's voice. The story was a little weak in some spots, such as:the Michael character's "leave me alone...*dies*" line. The scenery construction was pretty good and the animation was quite excellent. The use of the "hero's coming" midi for the news bit was a bit irritating, though.
Overall, it's an 80%.
